F***ing Cars
I had major greif getting a busted speedo out, I tried everything I could to remove it. After posting on another forum for advise, the advise was just smash the speedo cable retaing nut (orange plastic bit that screws into the gear box) to get it out. Due to the lack of room in the engine bay I could not get any angle on the orange plastic bit and ended up taking to a garage. They dropped the rear of the box down and managed to remove the cable for me. Cost me about £50.

dream car, nightmare problem!
I had a similar problem, it was down to when I replaced my Engine, I got the rocker breather pipe and the lower header tank pipe mixed up and eneded up filling the oil galleries with water. Luckily I didnt drive the car like this and spotted it before any major dmage was done. Spent about £100 on oil and engine flush and put 5 litres of oil in. Ran the car for a few mins drained out the oil and repeated 5 or 6 times. Scared the cr@p out of me. Hopefully yours will be an easy fix.

Clutch fork release
Yeah your right it's an Allen key that covers the shaft, I was going from memory there and got mixed up with the inspection hole.

Clutch fork release
On a classics:It's quite easy when you know how, from the front of the car, on the right hand side of the gear box is a rubber grommet, remove this and you will see a small hole, this is where the bar for the release bearing sits in the gearbox. Use an m6 bolt and screw it in to the thread in the bar. Pull this towards you and the bar will come out the gear box, now pull up the clutch fork and the release bearing will now be free. I have posted the workshop manual for the classic in this thread http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/41-whats-your-audio-set-up-in-your-suburu/ Can't see it being that much different with the Bugeye. You want page 227.

Good Article on Tailoring the SI-Drive, DCCD and VDC
i was playing around with it as my MPG seemed stuck on 21.9mpg, set it up as S# DCCD on Auto - ( click back the swith in Auto mode) and VDC to Off the car felt so much more alive everything was more repsonsive, Breaks felt Firmer, throttle was instant and the steering lighter. was a totaly differnet car. Bit annoyed that when you switch off it all reverts back to i drive, Auto DCCD and VCD on.

Speedo removal from a classic dash
Glad to help :)

Speedo removal from a classic dash
I must admit I tried that, as I had one bulb that was lose at the top in the middle and it was fine for the bulbs at the top. Bit more awkward to do the bulbs at the bottom, as you don't have a lot of play in the speedo, so you still have to disconnect the speedo cable to tilt the whole binnacle towards you. Ive had to replace then binacle it self, then a while laterr decided to replaced all my dash bulbs with blue LEDs and then later again the dials with Lockwood silver dials, so I had taking the binnacle out down to a fine art. I also replaced my whole dash at one point due to bad bleaching where a cleaning product I used did some damage. That's was a mare of a job and gave me more cuts and scrapes than anything else I did on that car :D

Speedo removal from a classic dash
It's is quite a fidily job, if you have got the dash surround off, 4 screws 2 at the top 2 at the bottom. Disconnect all the plugs to the hazards, fogs, etc. When you have removed the surround, you need to remove the 4 brass coloured screws to free the binnacle from the dash itself. Then on the right is a large grey clip which connects the loom to the binnacle. This has a clip on the outside you need to lever up and then slide the connector towards the front of the car to remove it. Also on this side is a blue plug in to the back of the binnacle that needs to be removed. This is also a clip type, and can be awkward to remove. Now you should be able to angle the binnacle to make room to remove the connect or the left, when this is done you now should be able to remove the speedo cable from the back of the binnacle. I always did this first by getting my hand up the back of the dash on the left hand side of the steering colum and feeling around for the speedo cable and pulling it off the back of the binnacle. Hope this helps. I have attached the workshop manual for the classic at the end of this thread http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/41-whats-your-audio-set-up-in-your-suburu/ unfortunately it's not complete but it's the only one I ever found. The bit you want is page 536 it doesnt give to much info but it does have some pics.

I've seen some the cars on surrey Scoobies have had done by a old club member who noe does professional detailing, looks amazing. Must admit If i was being super criticaland I could justify the cost, my car could do with going through a paint correction and full polish. Check out this Range Rover he did. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=253615

The car was a cat D write off, got paid out and so bought it back and used the extra to do the rebuild. I thought they were standard on the Sti Type UK? Must admit I wish I had a silver car. Getting fed up having to wash mine every time it rains as it just looks awful with all the crap left behind, shows up really badly on the black.

Side light conversion led strip
Had a friend do angel eyes on his 08 STI, don't know the exact details, he mentioned it involves baking the light in the oven to separate the lens from the unit.
