  1. I once used a doorbell button for my horn on a beetle :) never got it MOT'd with it though.
  2. Heres the Quad Bike. http://youtu.be/Qe_mS_ucYCM
  3. Someone signed up to Sureey Scoobies and is making this: A WRX Powered Mk1 Escort. Seen it done with quite a few beetles and an Quad bike but never a MK1 though :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRhVyPR2Szw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ6ITFh9aYc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsYyyejS6UI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uudvC6wIImQ
  4. LOL I wasn't implying you we're meaning 2nd hand bits :)
  5. I've always got my pads and discs from ECBdirect.com. They are the cheapest I've ever found for EBC. I've used EBC red Stuff and Yellow stuff pads with tarot grooved vented discs, after that I switched to EBC turbo Grooved Discs With Yelow Stuff pads. All worked well, but you do get more brake dust with the fast road pads. One other thing that may be worth considering is braided hoses, they don't bulge under pressure and are a lot more durable than rubber if you are going to be driving the car exuberantly. This is an obvious one but buy brand new pads and discs DO NOT buy 2nd hand ones. Sorry if teaching granny to suck eggs but its a deffo don't try this at home thing.
  6. Dan at Surrey Subaru will do day to day stuff aswell as build you a 500bhp monster. I have had work done by Dan myself he did a cam belt change on my driveway including replacing the tensioners. he's also highly recommended by the members of Surrey Scoobies.
  7. As far as I know Swapping the ECU will not derestrict it, as It an mechanical limiter tied into to the Speedo. Even if you did swap the ECU you would still be getting KPH through the Speedo and this would mess with the ECU as the UK ECU are probably programmed to MPH not KPH. I would call a Subaru Specalist and Chat to them. Pete at South East Imprezas would be a good bet for the bit and advice you need.
  8. Welcome, Blue and Gold are the fastest Colour :)
  9. I live near Twickenham, and have never used anyone around here. I've always gone to the guys in Surrey as they have some really good specialist there. Surrey Subaru Specalist in camberly. https://www.facebook.com/surrey.subarus is closest TFS who have moved to Aldershot hants. 01252 330366 are ver good and worth the journey.
  10. Lol don't say that, I know far less than I think I do. Just did a bit of googling.
  11. The limiter is mechanical in that it ECU controllers the fueling by taking a reading from the speedo. So to delimit You need to get a delimiter/converter. This fits between the speedo cable parts and has a little gear box that changes the speedo cable and needle to read as MPH. Best bet for this the converter would be Subaru breakers like South East Imprezas 07891129485, Jap Performance parts + 44 (0)1293 520090. They would prob have an import they can take one off. You then need to get a speedo dial that is in MPH, the breakers may have these but will prob only sell the whole binacle rather than just the dials. I got mine from http://www.lockwoodinternational.co.uk/subaru-dials-c192.html.
  12. Momentum is 95 Ron + octane booster and additives to make it 99 Ron V-power nitro is refined at 100 Ron so it's a better fuel and has less crap added to it. I've noticed a difference in MPG since switching to nitro, I'm about 1-1.5mpg per tank better off. Like Tescos says every little helps.
  13. Offer finishes 15/06 Just aswell I checked before filling up tonight. https://www.bespokeoffers.co.uk/consumer/offers/save-5p-per-litre-on-v-power-nitro-fuel-at-shell--c73b2
  14. Welcome, what scooby are you getting 22B?
  15. I've just ordered some Type UK Stickers from these guys maybe they can help. http://www.subarupartsstore.co.uk/category/Badges_and_Decals,b.html A lot of the Surrey Scoobies members use Pro_R as they are based locally, not heard anyone having issues with them before. Not that its any comfort to you but lets hope this is a onr off. Hope you get it sorted.
  16. Friday I was doing some bits on the car and had the radio on whilst messing with the leccy windows. After about 10 mins or faffing around I tried to start the car and the battery was flat. Jump started, then took the car for a 15 min drive, got home and all seemed well. Sunday drove the car for a quick trip to the shops, got back everything was fine. Got in the car this morning, started fine. on the way to waork, stopped at the paper shop and the car wouldnt start again. Is it because the Pioneer AVIC-F940BT Head unit takes so much juice to run it? Is it my battery that is giving up? Can I get a stronger battery than recomended by Subaru? Ta :)
  17. Welcome, which car are you aspiring too?
  18. Great news :)
  19. found this on the Outback forum. talks about a rubber cap you remove and line up the crank with a gap and use that to lock it. http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/61-general-discussions/47370-crank-shaft-pulley-tigtening-ideas.html
  20. Have a word with Pete at Southeast imprezas, he had quite a few cars for breaking recently he may have what you are looking for. https://www.facebook.com/search/results.php?q=SouthEast+Imprezas+SouthEast+Imprezas&init=public#!/southeastimprezas
