  1. Well all I can say is wow. We've had some serious snow and the XV was great. Don't know if it's the car or the tyres or a combination of both. I live a.mile up a farm track and was able to drive out with drifts over a foot deep. We then got snowed in with 4 foot drifts. The farmer was able to clear most of the track with a tractor but there was one bit he.coukdnt get to. So we just drove across the field and the XV coped perfectly. I just turned off the traction control and it just.goes no problem at all. I'm really impressed. It's got really good ground clearance as well. Norrie.
  2. I just fitted a set of winter wheels and tyres and I didn't bother getting the sensors fitted. It brings up a tpms light up on the dash but it doesn't bother me. The tyre fitter checked and he could have fitted a set for £40 each. That was a lot extra on top of the wheels and tyres. He said when I put my normal wheels back on it will reset. Norrie.
  3. Welcome.from another XV newbie. Also a former Subaru owner. Had a couple of Foresters in the past Norrie
  4. Have any of you guys taken out a Subaru extended warranty on your car? If so how much was it and do you think it was worth it? My XV is I only 2 years old at the moment but it's done 51500 miles so will be out of warranty soon. I asked this in general subaru chat but no response. I've asked my local dealer and they didn't know and haven't got back to me yet. Thanks. Norrie.
  5. Would you recommend it? Norrie.
  6. We've had 2 foresters and although we liked them the XV is so much better value. I would recommend the XV any day. We've only had ours just over a week but absolutely love it. Norrie.
  7. How much was that one? Do you have a link? thanks. Norrie,
  8. Tyres and brakes look like they've been replaced. The 48k service has also been done which is a bonus. Norrie.
  9. No snow yet just really cold. The extra width is fine. As for the Sti badges they will be going. Lol.
  10. Fitted new winter wheels and Dunlop winter tyres yesterday. I really like the look of them on the car. Hard to tell how good the tyres are yet as we've no snow yet. What do you guys think? Norrie.
  11. Well got a spare set of.alloys and a set of Dunlop winter 4d tyres. Have to admit I really like the look of them on the car. Hard to tell how good the tyres are yet as we've not had any snow yet. The main reason for changing was to save the original alloys from the salt. What do you guys think? Norrie.
  12. Yeah I know 225 is the original size but the ones I have came across are Dunlop winters 235. There practally new and £200 fitted. I got the wheels for £120 and they've just been refurbed so not to bad. I don't fancy running the stock wheels in the winter as I reckon the salt will kill them. Norrie
  13. Ok I've managed to find a set of 17" alloys to use as winter wheels and I've seen a set of 235/55/17 winter tyres. Do you think that they would be ok. The wheels are the same size as originals 7j with a 48 offset. Thanks. Norrie.
  14. It's ok I managed to get one from the States for £50. It works out £90 all in including the postage and the customs. Not bad I thought as the dealer have me £150 off the car because it was missing. I also managed to pick up a genuine Subaru boot mat as well for £12.50 and a full set of Subaru mud guards for £24. I just need to buy a bumper protector now. Norrie.
  15. Hi there, I've just bought a Subaru XV 65 plate with 50k on it. Now although it's still got a years warranty I might go over the 60k limit. So my question is how much is it to extend the warranty and do you think it's worth the money? Also does it cover things like suspension bushes ball joints etc or are they down to wear and tear? Thanks. Norrie.
  16. After picking my car up yesterday I had a drive on roads I know today and absolutely loving the car. It drives really well plus I'm getting 50MPG. I really like the touch screen stereo and the voice recognition for the phone etc. The only thing wrong with the car is its missing its parcel shelf/blind. I phoned the dealer but it's £250 for a new one. I'm hoping I can pick one up used somewhere. Does anyone know if an Impreza one will fit? Thanks. Norrie.
  17. Well checked the car out and it was absolutely fine so bought it. Awesome car. I really like it as it drives great. Returned 50 MPG on the way home so well happy with that. The touch screen stereo system is awesome as is the reverse camera.
  18. Hi there, i am am looking at a 65 plate XV 2 litre diesel tomorrow with 50k on it. Is there anything specific I should be looking for apart from the usual things? We've had a couple of Foresters and really liked them hence why we've went for the XV. I just sold a Honda CRV and the 4 wheel drive system was rubbish. Thanks. Norrie.
  19. Hi there, Just joined, Hopefully picking up a 65 plate Subaru XV on Saturday. Had a couple of Foresters before. Stay in the Scottish Borders. Thanks. Norrie.
