Can you fit a Turbo 2000 bonnet to an Impreza Sport?

Hey!

 

I recently bought a 2001 (Classic shape) Subaru Impreza Sport, it's the non turbo version with a flat bonnet. 

 

I was wondering if it would be possible to fit the bonnet from a turbo 2000 (with scoop and vents) to it?

 

I know they're the same fitting but would I have to do anything to it? Like blocking off the scoop and vents?

I would use a bit of tin cut it to the size you need and use a bit of silicone to seal it and bolt the vent's through the tin on the underside of the bonnet. Rollermite has a non turbo with scoop I will ask him how his scoop is fitted see if he has blanked it off :)

Thanks mate, my friend has an RB5 and I think there's seal that comes down from the scoop onto the intercooler and I'm hoping that it won't collide with my air filter!

You're more then welcome mate

there is some plastic air duct on the under side to to help the flow of the air get to where it needs to be, I can't see it getting in the way of anything it's tight to the underside of the bonnet and and not massive but I guess you could just cut it a little bit. if needed. And that where I would put anything to blank it off between the air duct. :)

For the sake of saving spamming the forums with a new topic.

 

I bought a back box for my subaru and the pipe on the back box 2.5" and the pipe on my exhaust system 2".

 

I can't bolt the new back box on because the (flange?) is too big, what do I need to make it fit? I've been looking all over the web for flange adapters etc but can't find anything or the sort. I wonder if I'm looking for the right thing?

I know a welder could do it not sure about a flange is there no way to get a reducer pipe maybe. Sorry Mapping and Exhaust not something I know lots about :( I have been called out to work again for my sin's :( I will have a look around for you mate see what I can find. I think we need an Exhaust specialist on here ;)

With regards to the vents, the small ones should have a plate on the underside to stop excess water coming through anyway, mines got the mini scoop on the side of the air filter and did soak the air filter when it rained, I shaped a piece of tin to cover the hole but bent down the back part of the tin to allow air to go into the bay, as for the big scoop, there shouldn't be any contact issues but if there is it will be the rubber skirt, this can be removed easily by pulling the black push in pins that hold it on

As for the exhaust you can buy reducer sections for the style of pipe that slides into each other but you would likely need to get the connecting flanges welded to the reducer section where needed

I would go for the sti spoiler but that's me I know their not for everybody but I do like the spoilers and front splitters. Opps sorry I'm not trying to add to your shopping list :D 

But car look's spot on I will keep an eye out if I'm around your way again anytime soon :)

funny you should say that!

 

I bought an STi 5 spoiler recently because I think it looks the best but I went for a fibreglass one, which upon a arrival was bowed and damaged, it was also shoddy as.

Oh not good and don't blame you I would have sent it back too. And I think that would set the car off really nice. I would also sing Scoobyworld's praises even though I haven't bought a spoiler from them they did my engine rebuild its been fantastic. So I'm sure you would have no problems. For the blobeye I know it's a new age I got one that was from a breakers for £250 plus £30 postage that was already my colour few marks but fitted straight on. So would keep a look out on there too.

It's got a lot of stone chips, there's some bent metal at the top of the hood where it meets the windscreen, there's also a tiny dent in the front but it was really cheap and the colour of my car so it'll do for now :)

i've just enlarged the pic and think i can see one very small mark where it curves at the front, otherwise looks spot on, i wouldn't be too worried about stone chips, my front splitter is turning white it's that covered in em

 

and that's one hellova spot on match to the car too, normally with dark colours you get a noticeable difference in shade due to sun bleaching over the years, was there nothing else you could have salvaged from it, i'd have been tempted to get wings and doors so you have spares if ever they are needed, then again i suppose that's down to funds and space
