Hi all, simple question I hope. Will a decent sound system cover up the general Scooby noise. My classic is loud inside. Engine sounds nice but the road noise itself is loud. I sometimes like this but at times would like to listen to something else.

Would a good sound system take the other noises away. Normally drive modern cars which are super quiet so new to me.

All and any thoughts welcome.

I'd go with adding sound deadening, subaru's don't have much as it weighs a fair bit, think there's a company called dynamat that does it in rolls not cheap but works !

Go for soundproofing if the road noise is a worry. The background noise will still be there with a stereo, just masked. And soundproofing will make future stereo upgrades sound better too :-)

Ok, will take a look. I like the engine noise but road noise is pretty loud. I am ok with it. Assume the wagon is harder to keep quiet anyway.

I've gone from a 2005 corolla T sport, I've had a classic impreza a few years back too. The road noise isn't really noticeable to be honest. Could it be tyres? Or anything else which is making it louder than it should be?

It does have some cheap ish Avon tyres on. I also know that estates/wagons are more noisy. Trim is a little noisy but not bad and the engine is fine, I like that sound.

I'm guessing it has a removeable shelf? I've never been in the wagons before, but yeah I can see it having more sound coming from the back end due to it been more open/airy than my classic, as the boot area is more enclosed. Standard exhaust?

It has a standard exhaust and it does not have a removable shelf but instead a roller blind type cover. These are generally not as quiet as a proper type parcel shelf. I think I will leave it as it is and get used to it. Thanks for replies.

How come an aftermarket exhaust? What would be better about it? I sometimes like to listen to music while driving and a reasonable quality. Appreciate all views.

It would be basically louder, and the impreza turbo sounds immense with that noticeable burble sound. Deeper is more imortant than loud. Each to their own, I also like some decent sound so may eventually upgrade the standard speakers but may wait till spring now.

I know this is not a good suggestion but was considering wearing headphones when I wanted to listen to music in the car. I am aware of the issues and risks though so will not.

I was considering a Goodyear Efficient Grip and they have good reviews and are rated quiet.

I was considering a Goodyear Efficient Grip and they have good reviews and are rated quiet.

I put four of them on in march and they are a good ballance between performance and fuel economy, can't fault them, wet grip is really good

Have a look on my tyres.com I had a couple of firestones delivered to the wheel refurber's at a decent price and they seem to be performing ok .

The exhaust was a bit "tongue in cheek" but true in my instance .

As I had a 2k sound system in my previous car which I transferred to my standard 1st scoob[emoji41]

once I fitted a aftermarket cat back and bell mouth sports cat I could hear the sweet spool and burble soundtrack I binned the heavy sub .

I too like a quality sounding system (not just volume ) and currently run a alpine head unit ,vibe black series speakers in the front doors and vibe black 6x9's in the parcel shelf .
