Scoobydoobydan Posted October 10, 2015 Share Posted October 10, 2015 Just a quick one, My Classic STI failed an MOT on emissions, as the tested told me my Subaru needed a centre cat? I went to a Subaru parts specialist and they advice me ANY pre'95 import doesn't require a cat at all..... so i replied i can be fully de-cated and pass a MOT still and he said YES!! Where can i get something to show this?? as i need to speak to the MOT garage again Monday morning, he said if they can't be 100% on the make / model and "what" was standard then they have to pass the car and give the customer the benefit of the doubt. savage bulldogs Posted October 11, 2015 Share Posted October 11, 2015 Early classics definitely only have the 1 cat in the downpipe and I think it's pre 92 that cars didn't have a cat in the UK but I'm unsure of the rules regarding imports and their cats . All sorted in in the end, it was with a downpipes cat from factory, but it was quite a bit over the limit, but I found something online and after speaking to a few local Scooby experts who pointed me in the right direction, and if it's a pre '95 model plus being an import then by law it does not need a cat at all!!! So after finding this out I took the information back to the garage and showed them and then they retested the whole car and passed it with 0 problems!!!!
