Hi all, new to the forum. Currently on my 4th scooby in 5 years :)

Have never been one to fiddle about with mods etc but alas i'm considering moving up the ladder lol

I currently have a 1995 JDM WRX. Its got the TD05 turbo,FMI and walboro fuel pump so i thought i'd look for an upgrade in ECU but after opening up the current Z4 ECU i realised the previous owner had the ESL 92-96 daughterboard installed.

I've been told that this is mappable but i was wondering to what extent? what are the features? and if it is a good enough outcome with the ESL chip, does anyone know where i can get it tuned from in or around yorkshire.

Thanks

Hello & welcome,

Esl board is the only way to map these unless you go for a standalone apexi & commander,

Good bit of kit I have one on my car, depending on what the previous owner asked for it does

Twin maps

Maf less option

Anti lag

Launch

It open source so if your feeling brave enough you can alter the map yourself although I wouldn't recomend it unless you know your onions

As for mappers you'd have to speak with someone like Andy forrest or Duncan graham, Bob rawle, or Andy Carr.

Richard Henry motorsport in Bradford use bob but it's live mapping on the road,

Duncan graham travels all over did mine at GR performance in rotherham, but of you want one of the very best a trip north of the border to Andy forrest

Hey stants and lev1982, thanks for the replies.

That's actually made my day. If i'm getting all that from the ESL board then i'll be saving a fair few pennies not buying another standalone.

Just one more question, other than the mods on the car i have already mentioned. Is there anything else you would advise getting done before the map? That would help in performance?

P.s. Lev1982, yes i think i have got a pretty nice scooby thanks. Well chuffed to find all these extra mods especially when i paid next to nothing for it 👌😀

Yes I have found out I have some nice spec on my car considering I thought it was a bog standard lol. These forums are great. Always someone to answer questions and a wealth of advice in posts. Best thing I did since buying mine was join here.

Hi and welcome

Unfortunately I don't think the early pre 96 esl daughter board has all the same functions as the v3 onwards one but they might have updated the software.

Best bet would be to shoot a email to a mapper that deals with esl or Andy Stevens who makes the esl chips to find out a full list of functions for your year

As for what else to get prior to having another remap . If your current injectors are the standard grey 380cc ones uprate them to yellow 440's and a decat downpipe should see 320 hp ish

I'd also upgrade the front brakes ,if you've still got the standard 2 pots up front before aiming for more ponies [emoji6]

If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊

Hey all, thanks for the warm welcoming 👍

Savage Bulldogs, yes you're right. I've done a little research and have found out that the esl i have doesn't have the same upgrade functions as the newer board, but still has it's perks. And yes i think i still have standard injectors so will be upgrading them in the coming days and by then hopefully i'll have arranged for it to get a map with one of the specialists.

Cheers fellas for the info, much appreciated and it's a pleasure to be a part of the club 😊

No problem bud 👍

Being a 95 it will be have a phase 1 fuel set up which means ...... Phase 1.5 yellows will drop straight in or phase 2 yellows will need phase adapters (about £40) to make em fit . You won't want to drive it far once the injectors are fitted as the fuelling will be miles out ,so your best off fitting them just before you remap [emoji6]

Phase 1 and 1.5 injectors are the same so are a direct fit up to v4 (a bit cheaper ) but they're older and can only be ultrasonically cleaned and flow matched.

Phase 2 are newer tech and although you need phase adapters to fit them (extra money ) you can get them resized  (made bigger cc) as well as cleaned/flow matched

Both phases of yellow 440's will max out at 340hp ish (with supporting mods ) on standard fuel pressure
