hi all not sure if i am posting this in the right area i never been on any forums thought i would give it a try bought my first scooby 6 months ago and got nothing but trouble with it grrrrrrrrrr i love the car but i dont think its right can any one help me cheers shaggy

thanks for the reply i am having a noise from the engine when ticks over,i got to top up the oil every now and then when i go for a long ride i can smell oil burning,i got like popping sound coming from the back shocks seems to be coming at the top quite load inside the car i have looked at the engine i cant see no oil leak but there must be one and also when i start the car the steering is light but after use it seem to be a bit harder to turn on tick over if i slightly turn the wheel it like judders a bit cheers shaggy wish you never replied now dont you hahahaha thanks again

Ha ha not at all. An engine tick will be hard to diagnose without hearing it in person.

If you're topping up oil and getting a burn smell then we can link those two. A common leak is rocker covers. On the driver side more so as it's above the uppipe so becomes brittle with age. If the oil is leaking there it will sit on the uppipe and burn off. Do you get any blue smoke?

Knocking shocks will likely be top mounts if you're hearing it at the top. Again a common fault.

Power steering sounds like the belt loosens when everything warms up. Try to adjust it if slack or have a listen for a worn bearing in the pump or alternator pulley.

ok cheers regarding the  smoke i dont get none i will try and tighten the belt then have the top mounts looked at and the rocker cover thanks for the advise cheers shaggy

Welcome!

I think Scoobyghost has covered it so just hope you find the niggles and enjoy the car.  Also let us know how you get on, it will help others diagnose similar issues.  Hope you enjoy the forum :thumbup:

thanks all for the reply's the oil is the rocker cheers scoobyghost but the 4 top mounts on the car are gone so im trying to order coil overs but he needs to no the front lower mount hub hole to hole length 65mm or 75mm how can i find this out as i am no Mechanic thank again

I think they want to know the distance between the centres of the 2 holes at the bottom of the struts.

But They should be able to tell if they fit by the model and year of your car tbh

If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
