You'd have to drive like a very nice boy and probably be limited on mileage but you'd be insured and may be cheaper. All changes at 25 though

June 4, 20169 yr You could try some of the "specialist" insurers. I'm with Kieth Micheal's, there flux who always seem competitive. What price were you expecting or hoping to pay? I'm not sure on black box companies. Probably best to google for them. A tracker will help to drop the price a bit and a good certificated alarm system.

June 10, 20169 yr OP - my son has a 2011 Punto, is 18 and the insurance was just over £1K. We are with Direct Line and he has a black box. We also have other cars at the same address so we all benefit from a multi car discount. A tip for you (if you don't know this), add named drivers with experience onto your insurance. By adding me to his insurance it came down and adding my wife brought it down further. I used to have a 156 which is a car he always wanted, until we found out a 1.6 2002 model would be around £8K per year to insure.
