So imagine that you have just bought a JDM blobeye for relatively cheap. It's pretty much stock except a few STI parts.

You find that because you spent less than you was expecting, you have £1k spare to start the mods.

What would be the first few things you'd buy?

The 1st things I bought for mine were front and rear strut braces (£155) and good quality mud flaps. That wud still leave you over £750 which you could just about go for a set of coilovers, probably wouldn't leave anything in the kitty for set up and four wheel alignment though. Good luck how ever you see fit to spend your 1K wish I'd been in your position 😏

Where to start!!

Are you happy with power? What power is it running?

Are you happy with noise?

Tyres good quality?

Brakes good?

It's a hypothetical question to be honest.

I'm collecting the car tomorrow.  I don't like the idea of buying a car and straight away trying to get as much power as possible. I'd rather get used to it as it is then try push for power.

It's currently at the 300 mark though.

I've read that, injectors, turbo, exhaust and a fmic is all that is needed to push to 450bhp. Is that true?

5 speed box isnt it?  You wont get anywhere near 450 without upgrade on that which is A lot.

Best thing is drive it for a bit and see what you think I guess.  My first check would be quality of tyres and brakes and go from there.

Wrx ? Check what turbo it is , if no idea of power first up is a health check and dyno run

£100-150

then personally check tyres are decent , cam belt done , brakes up to spec ,

that could eat a grand

but if it's purely mods

brakes / suspension

Dyno, check fueling is OK as jap maps are really aggressive timing wise.

Then the world's your lobster

agree with Stants, go get it on the dyno, even if it needs a map then thats money well spent

If it's not been done in the last 5k , oil , oil filter ,air filter .

If it's not been done in the last 30k cambelt.

Dyno health check .

Then either suspension or brake mods or save a bit of cash for when the rear shocks start knocking ( common fault on newage )

If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊

Thanks for the advice guys.

Yeah it's a 5 speed. I'm happy with the 300 bhp mark anyway.

After driving it today, i feel handling mods are the way forward, starting with brakes.

It's just had a full service including all fluid, even gearbox and diff.

I'll be looking to get a health check and dyno run ASAP!
