Strokerace Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Why does top radiator hose collapse on cool down ? Thanks
Sandals Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Pretty sure it shouldn't... got any pics? Welcome to the club!
Scoobyghost Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 The cheap eBay silicon pipes suffer a lot from collapsing when hot. Not ideal because you don't know what it's doing when you're driving.
Piggysniffer Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 I wonder if you have a blockage from the overflow tank so that when it cools and tries to draw water back into the system it can't so the hose collapses (if that's how it works)
Gambit Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Certainly should not be collapsing. 1st thing I'd look at is the radiator cap well I'd get a new one I've heard if the spring and disc under the cap should push down when there is pressure in the system once this stops it starts to collapse the hose. probably cheapest and easiest place to start anyway. Borrow one if you know anyone local. 1
Mark D Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 ^^try the pressure cap, some have a pressure reading on there. Keeps the system up to that pressure and if it goes over, it goes to the overflow. Under pressure and draws it back Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
