Jon812
Hi, ive owned a classic turbo 2000 for the last nine years. It got crashed into by a idiot and written off! Gutted wasnt the word! I now have a 55 plate hawkeye wrx, completely standard, no plans to modify it, other than maybe a backbox for better sound. Not had the car long. It drives great and been looked after. Ive read some horror stories regarding this 2.5 model with headgaskets going and engines failing! I dont thrash my cars and look after them. Many other owners on here with a wrx hawkeye? Im hoping my mind can be put at rest and that ive not bought a ticking time bomb!
Sandals
Welcome to the club! Lovely looking Hawk They do have a bit of a reputation but as long as you look after it it should be ok! Regular services, always warm up and cool down properly, don't use wide open throttle below 3k etc
Jon812
Hi. Thanks for reply. Ill be getting it serviced regular, i always warm up and cool them down. My classic ran fine and gave me no trouble in the 9 years i had it. Ive read these 2.5's consume alot of oil, as ive not owned it long i cant tell yet! As far as I'm aware they shouldn't drink oil... if they do, potential problem! My scoob certainly doesn't, I know mine is the 2.0 but apart from that the engine is pretty much the same

Jon812
Yeah id be worried if it started getting through oil. Ive had it 2 months now, driven to cornwall and back(im near sheffield), skegness and back and a few hundred miles doing short journeys. Oil level hasnt dropped. Going to book in for a winter service soon anyway, i go to sheffield subaru service, always trusted them with my last car, will get a full check over.
