£500 to spend on improved performance for Forester 122bhp non-turbo - suggestions?

Hi, I have a standard non turbo 122bhp 2000my Forester, I'd like to increase the horsepower with a budget of £500. Yes I know I could get the turbo version but I have what I have... The engine has recently had a rebuild with all new inlet and exhaust valves, head gaskets, new clutch and cam belt, so it's in pretty good condition for its age.

Ecu remap?
Cold induction kit?

Any others suggestions and what sort of power increase might I expect?

Don't bother , you might gain 5bhp if your lucky

As matt says, Easiest way to make an na car faster is to strip weight,

If you want to go to town you could look at lowering it slightly and fitting a stronger rear arb this should help handling

As above, chuck it in the bank and spend it on something else. Subaru's get their power from turbo's so any gains when no turbo involved are minimal.

 

option could be save and trade it in for a turbo model

If your 100% sure you want to spend that money on the car the best thing would be to improve your suspension! Decent tires and springs or coilovers will go along way!!

Anything engine wise would be pointless on a non turbo :(

as above loose some weight and improve the chassis / brakes
