Hunting Oil leak...

Featured Replies

Done about 2k with the car now and its clear its been sat for some time as there are a few things that need attention - one of them is teh black stuff on teh drive that is supposed to be on the inside of the engine cases.....

The first one was the oil pressure sensor mount that had come loose - cleaned, thread locked and tightened should sort that - now I have to find the other.

I ended up pulling the turbo off to access the many plugs behind it but it looks like it is coming from the top of the engine and flowing down the back.

What are the potential points of leakage I should be looking for as I pull off the pipework - hoping its a breather that has come off 🐵

That 1st pic shows oil on the top of the head and block, so it could be leaking from there and running down the back of the head ?

There's the main crankcase breather and possibly avcs oil feed hardlines in that area . On the back of the head there's turbo oil feed and turbo oil drain .

It's difficult to say tbh but I'd give the area a clean with autoglym machine cleaner and replace the copper washers for all the oil lines where they attach to the banjo bolts .then visually check the turbo oil drain pipe and crankcase breather pipe for splits . The avcs also have oil screen filters at the other end of the avcs lines ,these can block and cause issues. Some remove them but I just bought new ones from icp .

Thanks - ill check those and replace all the washers, I have a new oil feed line coming from HEL as I learnt the hard way with my 200sx eating turbos due to feed line being partially blocked by cooked oil.
