Jamie Bellamy
Hello, I have a Subaru wrx prodrive 2004 , I have installed an sti intercooler, sti turbo, performance radiator, stage two clutch and fly wheel and a full de cat exhaust system including headers . I am going to get it remapped soon along with installing a fuel pump (aem 320lph high flow fuel pump) I was just wondering what sort of power I would achieve
Tidgy
varys from car to car, i;d expect somewhere around 280ish as the turbo will be maxed.
Jamie Bellamy
Is that wheel horse power ? I also have the prodrive so it already has an update ecu , what difference would that make on the remap ?
Tidgy
whp is an americamism and not used over here. 280 will be at the flywheel though factor in about 25% loss (varies depending on alot of factors), so roughly 210 at the wheels
Jamie Bellamy
What upgrades do you need to do to get it to 300 hp? as I have the full 3 inch exhaust system along with the headers and the sti power parts more or less
Sandals
Assuming the STI turbo is a TD05 should get more than 300?
Jamie Bellamy
Thank you , I was thinking that too , I was a little disappointed with 280 ish hp. how much power do you think ? as I’m not sure if the stock wrx injectors would support it
Tidgy
ah sorry, missed the turbo swap, will be a vf35 i expect so should see 320 ish assuming it has the fuel, may need a fuel pressure reg and 3 port boost sol to get the best form it
Jamie Bellamy
Ok thank you, having this power would I need to upgrade the injectors or just the fuel regulator? also: I was also considering a cobb inlet , would that be any good?
Tidgy
should be ok with FPR, but no way to tell till its tried. inlet pipe wont be a limiting factor so no need
Jamie Bellamy
Ok thank you . Do you have to get the fuel regulator 😂 or can I survive on stock ?
Tidgy
will find out when its maped, its one of those that some cars are ok, some dont. might be able to find some sti injectors that will do the job
Jamie Bellamy
The company that do the remap should know the limits , so hopefully they don’t mess it up . What’s the consequences for a lower fuel pressure or the injectors not good enough?
Tidgy
whos mapping it? really bad as engine will lean out, but decent mapper will see it and stop the run. At that point its a choice between getting what you can and backing off the map, or swappng parts
Jamie Bellamy
oh not good then I can’t think of the name but im paying around £450 Would I be ok if I get injectors and have an upgraded fuel pump or would I still need the fuel regulator ? If so what regulator or injectors would you recommend as I’m a bit tight on budget
Tidgy
uh, you dont know whos mapping it? is it on a dyno? injectors or fpr should do it. i cant remember what brand mine are tbh
Tidgy
looking back at my emails mine are decapped and flow matched standard hawk sti ones, bear in mind its very different application though as they are good for 500+
Jamie Bellamy
Its Being mapped on a rolling road and I think it’s going on the dyno. oh, so the sti injectors should be good enough then , so I won’t need a fpr?
Tidgy
yeah for that power level the sti's should be fine, need to make sure they are flow match and tested before use though if they are second hand

Tidgy
just confirm with them they are the right fitment
Jamie Bellamy
Ok. Would these be good to just fit if they was the correct fitment, or would I have to get them fitted by a machanic ?
Tidgy
will need mapping as soon as they are fit as the fueling will be waaay too much. but they will do the job
Jamie Bellamy
Ok thank you , Is that the same for the fuel pump ? Also would the remap people fit them ?
Tidgy
depends if its a garage or just a dyno place with a mobile mapper.
