As for buying i'd go for, if it's had mods done id be wanting paperwork same with the ' remap' claim If they have been done well should have no problems and may be better for fuel economy. Stantard stuff like reg servicing is a must. Servicing used to be short intervals but newer cars go a bit longer 7k i think. Although most of us change the oil every 4-5k. Look for one thats had a recent belt change or account for that if it's not been done and due, Don't be put off by main dealer prices as there are lost of very good independants which will do a better and cheaper job. I take it your lookong at impreza's ? I'll let someone else answer the ride question on that one. I stand corrected but cas registered afer may/june 06 may fall into the £450 tax bracket :O Anyway welcome and feel free to ask as many questions no matter how trivial or daft they may be. V6Matty Posted March 7, 2014 Author Share Posted March 7, 2014 thanks Stanton and matt for the comments. yeah I would be looking at a hawkeye possibly wrx, I do about 25k a year so about 4 services a year then at a guess, what the sort of pricing on servicing, I'm not bad at doing some things myself on the drive as its pretty flat. main reason I'm looking at something like this is I get a car allowance from work at about £260 per month so would need to pay for servicing, tires and such out of that. Don't mind a harder ride but I do like to finish a journey in one piece lol! Mapping will be around £500 if its not been mapped before as youll need to pay for the Ecutek Licence. About £300 if already been mapped. Pannel filters are from £30 upwards depending on Brands. BoozyDave Posted March 10, 2014 Share Posted March 10, 2014 Open source mapping by Racedynamix or similar will be about £350. if you want 330ish bhp, get a turbo, injectors, fuel pump and exhaust. You should be able to get those bits including fitting and mapping for about a grand. NO, I didn't want an STI, and YES, I could afford one if I did want one!!!!
