shawncullen
Just wanted to say hello to one and all. Just took delivery of a 2007 Forester 2.5 XTEN Auto. My better half has had her 51 plate Impreza 2.0 WRX since 2009 and I've been so impressed with the way it drives and its reliability, it had to be my next make of car of choice. But as an old geezer (40) with a dog I thought I'd go for the "sensible" option of a Forester. I only drive 5000 miles a year so the 2.5 auto suits me fine. Hope to start enjoying this forum in the future. Did so some research on here before I bought the car so thanks for that. Good to be here. Shawn PS pic of the new car here. shawncullen
Thanks for the great responses. Good to see you've all got a good sense of humour. Taking car back Tuesday. Previous owner has a cd in the 6 track which is stuck on eject and means nothing else will happen. Garage fine about it. Wonder what the cd is. Celine Dion? May look at aftermarket anyway as used to having aux in or USB.

Mr B
'never ever gonna give you up' That should be SOC anthem ... Must admit USB or SD card slot is perfect in car & makes CD's as useless as those cassette tapes are :-)

shawncullen
Ha. I just re-watched the pilots episodes from Night Rider the other day... That's an interesting set up. Looks expensive? Is it removable from the car for security? And is it only "build able" or can you buy one to fit? Oh, and as an Apple Freak, does it have to be Windows? :-)
Gambit
I built that one myself I'd say the biggest cost was the screen the pc parts I got 2nd hand, so full cost maybe a little over £200 with wires and everything I needed. As for Windows unfortunately unless you get a hybrid version or Linux that works it does really. I had to hack the windows to change it to the knightrider too with windows 7 it doesn't just let you change it like XP did :( I've now changed it all again :) it has the guy from Saw with the laugh it does I will have to record it I guess to show you what I mean :) I'd say the only thing with them is they seem to be an on going project. I'm looking at the satnav side of things with it at the minute plus I want to sort it out, as the PC is in the boot it's just the screen thats fastened in the dash I can remove the PC out the boot easy enough when I want. But I'm going to fasten it all to the back seats in the boot to free up some space :) But I'm also really toying with the idea of selling the car to get a hawkeye. Be a sad day watching her go though but I just couldn't afford to keep it and it's no good sorned :( but thats just early thoughts yet :D
shawncullen
Seems a great piece of kit for the price I have to say. Am I up for the techno challenge though? Seems a tad complicated for me! Now actually looking at aux / USB adaptor for existing Scooby Stereo which would be fine for me. And a snip at only £30ish. Will see if the garage can fix the existing Stereo first then I shall decide.
Gambit
If you have built Pc's before it's not to hard more challenge doing the fascia around the screen :) I've just resanded mine down to do it again after a fly went in the clear coat when I was spraying it lol. But wasn't happy with it anyway so would have been done again anyway :)
