After a sti intercooler to replace my original one on my 99 classic uk turbo

Cheers Stu

what year does it have to be?and do I need new hoses or this y pipe?Cheers

My 99 to 00 v5/v6 sti is the direct fit intercooler , bud.

Sti y pipework is mostly solid ally (less prone to cracking /better flowing) .

Hence why most people upgrade those at the same time and mention them in their adds [emoji6]

Cheers savage-will keep checking some are a bit pricey, and some say intercooler cover,(is it just cover or intercooler as well or are they trying to catch people out),should ask them I suppose....Cheers

Some on scoobynet 45 quid

you can buy tmic mesh to protect the fins and make it look neater .

Im unsure if the under tray (seal under the scoop) is a different size on the uk to sti on the v5/v6 .

So some of the listings might mention "under trays " as well

Bare in mind you will need a remap after fitting, mine is running slightly rough after fitting mine, dont bother V5 or V6, you want V7 or V8 as these are bigger especially if your going to run more power. but it takes alot of work to get it to fit.

May have one...

...just looked in the shed, I do but it's a bit tatty.

  • Author

Hi adam, what do you call tatty? The fins etc or just paintwork?Cheers

Hmm ash I want as least hassle as possible really, would like 300bhp or thereabouts

Both.  See attached photograph.

Ohhh lovely. Now to the nitty gritty. What version is it off and will it fit my 99,and how much do you want for it with postage?Cheers

Hopefully someone will be able to confirm the version for me from the photos.  It version 5 or later because of the position of the dump valve mount, but beyond that I'm not sure.

Also postage will be a problem because I'm working away for two weeks and have a massive commute, so although I'm home in the evenings there is no possible way I can get to a Post Office during opening hours.  If you don't mind waiting a while we can do a deal, meanwhile if you find a better example elsewhere then so be it.

Ok not in any hurry,so hopefully someone will advise. Thanks

It's a v5 that is !

It will fit, but as said your prob better going for newer version, Standard top mount is good for 300 mate.

fins on that look like they will need a bit of work to flow free as well. but pipework is uprated.

  • Author

So are you saying that my one I have already will be ok then?and your ecu and tdo5.Cheers

Yes mate, however with a Td05 your likely with supporting mods to get low 300's maybe even 330 depending on other mods obvs.

So would I be ok to go ahead with mine tmic your ecu and the uprated turbo and remap, would it work ok?and if need be I could upgrade tmic later cheers stu

Yeah just you will have to straighten the fins out on that inter cooler as it would let much air through with them bent like that the one ive put on today was a version 7 as they are bigger than the 5's but im chasing 400 mark next year. or go front mount Savage is selling one cheap at min ?
