Hi all! My suby and what mods to do next
Marshffs replied to tom.mattin's topic in General Subaru Chat
Hello and welcome. In my opinion id do away with twin exhausts, adding unnecessary weight and probably loosing burble sound and id say a touch of BHP aswel. I aint a fan of those headlights either but each to there own. I prefer the de-tangoed standard lights. The other half has a silver blob with front splitter and rear bumper spats on which were bought off ebay for £189 with fitting kit and was really good quality. Nice looking car you have. -
Ive just aquired a haweye centre console off a lad i know who scraps cars and he had hold of a haweye wagon. I asked him how much for the console and he said help yourself. (His loss). everything is there apart from that model was fitted with a Hi-Low ratio lever which is no good to me. Im in need of the hawkeye cup holder section or the handbrake surround. Does anyone have 1 they dont need? I know its a big ask. Image is the part for reference which is the wrong 1 Cheers

Have you tried driving and opening the door? Open the boot and drive forward a touch? Is it the weight sensor on passenger seat? Seatbelt sensor? Low fuel warning sound? Low brake pad warning noise? Just to eliminate a few

Put your lights in the oven to separate the lens, take off the amber part of the light. There will be how to guides on here for you to look at.

You maybe able to help me on my latest post with you taking your bug engine out lol. Something iv always wanted to do is strip an engine down an rebuild it. Id also like to have the balls to do my own timing belt lol.

Whilst changing my DV over back to recirc yesterday, i could do with my vacuum hoses changing to tidy the bay up and get rid of any leaks (if i have any). Ive been looking on google for a guide on what size goes where, and to make sure the pipes are the correct size for the job they do. Does anyone have a vacuum hose diagram link for a 2001 bugeye so i know ill be putting the correct size hoses in place? I think afew hoses are the wrong size as i was just going to go 1 hose at a time but id rather make sure. Thanks in advice

Just read through all your build mate and a absolute credit to you. Wish i could do it myself with my car and get a runabout for time being whilst i got my hands dirty. Want a nice painted engine bay similar to yours along with a 2.1 stroker. Cracking work mate, built not bought as the saying goes

Haywood and scott are spot on. DC sports. Ninja. All personal preference but i had a haywood and scott on my 98 wagon and was quiet til ya give it some beans. dont go for a nur spec though as your fillings in ya teeth will come out lol.

Get some ARB bushes aswel mate, may aswel do them than having to take it back off again. Superpro ones from import car parts, spot on they are.
-
For the MOT you dont need this frame as it aint weight bearing, i didnt know this till my mate told me who is in the same boat as you regarding corrosion. As for changing its straight forward. I had to remove mine to for some front ARB bushes. They are torqued right down so a good ratchet is needed with a breaker bar. Just a case of unsrewing the bolts to remove then replace. Save yourself some money mate and do it yourself. Very simple.

Thought id take the Forge DV off today and put the standard recirc on, then got a bollocking off the neighbour for not parking my car in my garage??? Why would i want to park it in my garage? Her reply.... “coz it wakes me up at half 5 every morning” my reply “what a shame”

I wont be going coz ill be on the Pi$$ the day before watching Bellew get his face smashed in. 🥊

Personal preference but i aint a fan of the angel eyes. But if you like it then go for it.
-
Welcome mate, get them lights de-tango’d and some winglets fitted along with a splitter. Will look much better. Like out lasses in the pic.

I have a 2001 bug and i dont have heated mirrors. Just heated rear screen. The wife has a 2005 blobeye and that doesn’t either.
-
Be best off with NGK PFR6B, 7B for a tuned engine as they can cope with more heat. Start with cheapest option first. Fuel filter, then plugs.
-
Blobeye radiator change and coolant flush

Tw@ts for getting air locks. Be prepared to scrape some bark off your knuckles disconnecting the rad fans. -
Hello, the blue sticker numbered 1 came back as off a subaru samba. The red 1 came back for a subaru turbo 98-99. So im assuming the red 1 is the correct 1 anyhow. As for the spluttering it could be 1 of many things. Don’t know when a pump fails it will throw a CEL up?? Might be worth doing a reset of ecu.

Did these wheels myself. Bought them for £150 with chips and marks all over. Acid dipped, sanded and smoothed the kerb marks out. Bought some GTpro alloy primer and GTpro gold paint and GTpro laquer. 3 coats of primer, 3 of gold and 4 laquer. Yours look like the UK300 wheels.
