Stuck caliper?
just been looking on eBay at second hand calipers , found these at £199.00 really. THINKING I SHOULD UP MY PRICES NOW....
-
Stuck caliper?
your only in leeds mate, i could drop them off if need be, turnaround time is 2 weeks depending on my powdercoaters and other issues like different colored calipers needed, usually ive a couple of calipers ready to send in so when i get an order i can build them up prior to your car being off the road usually if its local i can drop them off just as you have removed yours from the car.

Stuck caliper?
its all the crap that builds up round the piston seal its like plac and causes it to ware the chrome away and drags slightly to one side, usually its the bottom outside piston that starts sticking.
-
Stuck caliper?
am also trying to price up seal kits but not havin much luck, seems to be a dry patch at the moment.
-
Stuck caliper?
and yes am still alive just been playing with calipers and hunting pistons and thread-taps etc.
-
Stuck caliper?
usually the further the piston goes out the more off set they can become, it wont be noticeable really to the eye but when you are putting the pistons in after a re-paint they can get stuck.

Black nuts please?
i was thinking that too, ive a zinc plate guy i use that i might ask next time

Stuck caliper?
there shouldn't be any difference in stopping power unless the original one is not working 100% which wouldn't have been noticeable at the time prior to getting the newer one on.

alloy calipers re-anodized
just found a company that's agreed to reconditioned (anodize ) my calipers to a few choice colours, the main colours are the Brembo Gold and Aeroquip Red's and Blue's for now . so if your looking to splash out on detailing the engine bay with alloy BLITZ style oil caps /catch tanks / aeroquip fittings / tire valves /and and fancy colour coding the calipers too watch this space. am going to be taking them in next week and see what he can do apparently the shine is all dependent on how good the surface is to start with so a bit of polishing and buffing will be getting done at some stage. only BILLET /CNC items can be anodized because cast comes out like 'brown' all depending on the makeup of the cast ingredients etc. SO keep an eye out for up dates

Stuck caliper?
the wrx/pro are copy's by budweg i think and are sold by Brakes International too, there ok. but feel a little cheap nothing replaces an original item, and the photos of the old 4 pots is to be expected ive had some worse than them but after a session in my blaster and powder-coated and lacquered they look a million times better it just takes a little time and effort on my part to get them looking like this ( )

Stuck caliper?
have you sent the kit and piston back yet?
-
Black nuts please?
have just blasted all my wheel nuts with the intention of powder coating next time i go,

Worse than stuck, Threaded calliper :(
one of the last pairs of calipers i had reconditioned had that problem but they were the 4 pot Subaru type, the bolt came out and so did the threads, not ideal. the thread was in the caliper with luck so managed to re-tap it but a lot of messing about and not wanting to scratch the caliper too...

fitting a legacy twin turbo engine in a classic scoob
Adam i liked challenges, back in the day i did rover v8 4 ltr into Opel manta hatch, and have a Cosworth turbo into manta coupe which i still need to finish. the legacy is in full working order (1997 legacy gt twin turbo) The classic is of 1999 vintage on drums and small calipers, its not a problem as i recondition brakes and ive got a couple of 4 pot sets that am currently working on and a custom rear disc set up not using Subaru calipers but will be a bolt on alternative and a 330mm compB road caliper kit the size of discs all depend on the size of wheels i'll end up using. Everything on the saloon will be removed in turn as i was going to be swapping everything over axle/shafts/prop/b-box/engine & cross-member/brakes/exhaust's/loom etc.... I was thinking it should be virtually like for like even down to some of the interior fittings or am i being toooo ;) eager? The ECU will be stock for the moment as am not to clue'd up on that side of the proceedings ....... yet....but am sure it will be a eye opener for a while till i get onto that page. With you having a legacy whats the performance like for a day to day user and is the ecu mappable or is it a ESL addition i would be looking at in the future, i feel a good old photo session and spanner by spanner write up coming on :D its a pity we don't have a quarterly magazine to look forward to like the good old days of car clubs !

fitting a legacy twin turbo engine in a classic scoob
has anyone fitted a legacy twin turbo in a classic, as ive got or can get my hands on a legacy and fancy a small challenge, its complete and running fine :) and the scoob is a non turbo classic and has a head gasket problem and its not worth much but too good to scrap so we fancy a track-day car or something a little out of the ordinary ,but i don't know how much out of the ordinary it will be . so if anyone has had any hands on experience in this department please indulge me ;) before i make any further moves
