What have you done to your Subaru today ?
savage bulldogs replied to stants's topic in General Subaru Chat
Watch what you send through the post with royal mail as I sent some crystal headlights with them . The bloke at the post office counter asked what was in the (very well packaged) box for the "safety reasons" I told him "glass fronted headlights" "Oh that's ok they're insured for up to £100" he told me After they arrived smashed to bits I refunded the customer straight away and started the insurance claim process. Only to get a email a week later listing loads of car parts that are not covered [emoji35] Left me with no headlights and no refund for the goods or postage fookers Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk -
Seeing as I'm currently plastering over a really bumpy wall [emoji15] I hope that was a guess at what I'm doing rather than you hiding in the bushes and peering through a window at me (again)[emoji39] Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Gang bang glad I'm not camping the night now especially with gambit about lol Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Yeah I'll probably still have them, coz I keep forgetting to put up a sale thread lol Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Yeah the bung come with the exhaust I put it in once ........ Far to quiet and lost 0.4 bar of boost so it went back in the boot where it belongs and has stayed there ever since [emoji5] Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

I better put the bung in mine then [emoji4] Coz if there's a prize for the loudest ,dirtiest sounding scoob I've got it in the bag boys [emoji5] Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Do you have any other supporting mods ? (Panel filter ,3 port ect) What brand of upipe did you fit and what bar does it peak at ? Although the tdo4 is smaller and therfore spools quickly i would have thought the 35 would hit 1.2 bar of boost by at least 4k ish . Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Catch can... Talk to me.
savage bulldogs replied to Xander's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
The more expensive ones are baffled and I think you have to fit a "ferrell or boss " to connect a pipe to to let oil return sump . I went for a cheap 2 port ebay one that vta for now, which you have to empty via a drain plug. Every 500 miles ish it has about a egg cup of fluid which is mainly condensation (creamy water) . On the ej20 classic there's 3 oil breather outlets ,1 on each cam cover and 1 for the crank case (under the turbo outlet) although the crank case one has a y pipe that splits the vapour into 2 directions I blocked the bigger dia bore crankcase end of the y pipe and used 15mm internal dia silicone hose to plumb it into one of the catch can ports . Then "T"d the cam cover outlets together and plumbed that into the other port with the 15 mm I'd pipe Only slight issues are it looks a bit crude and because I've fitted it to the back of the bay I occasionally get a wiff of oil in the cabin after a spirited drive . If I ever fit a baffled sump I'll chuck a boss in it before I fit it and probably try to source a catch can that runs coolant through the middle of it (I saw a crower one on a usdm scoob ) it helps to keep the moisture out of the vapour in the first place. which means it hasn't got to work as hard to separate the condensation and oil to allow it to return to sump . Is this normal gearbox behaviour for 01 WRX?
savage bulldogs replied to Ash3000k's topic in General Subaru Chat
Unless you keep the propshaft in the box you loose the oil when you remove the box ,so I would have thought they'd have to of replaced the oil Have you checked the level /colour of the oil ? I assume the crunch was there before they changed the clutch ,fly and seal ,shame you didn't mention it then tbh bud (would have saved a bit on labour) maybe take it back for them to diagnose as it might not be synchros, it's only the fact that it only does it in 1 gear that makes me think it is . Does it crunch in any other gear ? Have you checked the gearbox oil and clutch fluid level and lately ? Do you know when either was last changed ? As a fluid refresh can sometimes help if the box or synchros are bit worn but if it is wear n tear unfortunately your probably better off sourcing another box and it's probably worth fitting a clutch while it's off Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk -

Have you got braided lines on yours stants ? If not add them to your list as well [emoji48] Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk -
Never done the 1/4 before and I've never launched it from a standing start. If it did go bang I wouldn't mind tbh .... As I'd have a good excuse to tell the Mrs I need to rebuild bigger and better Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Good stuff [emoji106] Well looking forward to this as it will be the first jap event I've been too, just hope I don't blow it to bits on the 1/4 [emoji5] Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Give your alarm make and model a Google with the symptoms and see if that sheds any light on it . It might be a fail safe it the alarm thinks the powers been cut or a common fault . As if the pump primes and you've tried a jump start I'd have thought it would have turned over so might be a imoblizer issue . Did you try to turn the engine over by hand ? If not get a ratchet on the crank pulley while the ignition is off and turn it a few full rotations Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
-
As stants said try turning it over by hand to see it's seized . It does sound electrical as without the keys in it should only "click" once shortly after taking the key out as the imoblizer kicks in . Maybe try a classic self ecu code check by connecting the plugs under the dash near the bonnet catch Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

I think it's only the pcd of the discs and rim et /style you have to keep a eye out for . If your running 18's (and have got deep pockets ) you might be able to fit some 354mm 2 piece discs . Have a look on godspeed website for a idea of price for new stuff and ebay ect for second hand brembos with good discs if you've got a sub £500 budget -

I'd imagine you could use your wrx hubs as 330mm discs with 4 pot brembo or 6 ap's bolt straight on classic r160 hubs and fit under some 17's Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk -

Have legacies got a starter "link fuse" in the fuse box under the bonnet ? It's a coated bit of wire with a spade connection on either end Check the earth's on Bell housing (near starter motor ) And engine loom to inlet Crank and cam sensors plugs are worth a check too Sure it's something simple bud Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk -
a few pics of my project so far
savage bulldogs replied to savage bulldogs's topic in Subaru Build Threads
Couple of bits done on the scoob this week repainted the rear 2 pots red to match the fronts as I everytime I went out in the scoob I felt like I had odd socks on . Also fitted the v3 header tank I'd prepped a while back, which turned out to be a bit of a nightmare due to the differences in the versions. Mocked up a ally bracket to support the top of the tank to the phase 1 inlet Cleaned up the temporary bracket a bit Fitted with new hoses Just hoping that the weather stays good this week so I can wash ,clay ,polish and wax before the local charity retro car show and jap show in a couple of weeks -

Shame my "raised logo" 4 pots won't fit behind your wheels stants ,could have been a good excuse for a upgrade [emoji5] Good luck with the mot p.Davey after putting it back together [emoji106] I'd prepped a v3 ally header tank a while back ,it turned out to be a right ball ache to fit [emoji57] cos I had to make a ally bracket and fit some new hoses to make it work but it looks better than the old plastic one -
free car show in bury st Edmunds anyone?
savage bulldogs replied to savage bulldogs's topic in East of England
Just thought I'd bump this as there's 20 scoobs and 4 non scoobs going from my local forum and 6 spaces left free on the stand . I've never been before but from what I've heard it's not just a jdm show there's anything from nobles to fiestas and retro stuff to present day . Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk -
I haven't seen any of these before my brv just sent me the link (didn't ask him what he was searching for to stumble across it ) My Mrs works at a primary school I'm sure it won't be in their library lol . Just made me laugh how they wouldn't fit in her mouth and at the end she wants to play with both of they're balls at once. Spit roast Sally Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Surely they didn't publish this kids book called "do you want to play with my balls" [emoji23]

That's a shame bud mind you it probably would have been a bit of a electrical mission to get your v5 inlet/engine working in the v4 shell as the head inlet stud patterns are different and I think the engine loom is too . Imo Would have probably been easier to have sourced a v1 to v4 long engine to drop in with a v3/v4 inlet . Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Yeah stants he would have added a couple of pages to the "rant thread" by now if not lol Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
