SWMBO was rear ended on the same roundabout a couple years back. it took 6 months to sort out as 4 vehicles were involved. she stood still for the red traffic light when a plonker in a Mitsubishi Pajero crashed in the que of stationary vehicles.
hoop you are OK and things are sort out fast
sensible driving, using the cruise control a lot and bear in mind both are automatic. the UK one i only use V-Power
one thing Scoobie doesn't like is city traffic with lots of stop start traffic due heavy car. best MPG i did was when driving to one of my brothers living in the Netherlands; 37 MPG! could have even better MPG but had to fill up as the next fuel station wasn't a Shell one. so highway with cruise control is best but that goes for most car to be honest
then another point is tires. i have ditched those crap Geolandars for Nexen and oh boy way better MPG and less tire noise. you can see that in my Fuelly (in my signature) there you can also see my silver 2.5 XS i had
wouldn't want these tires for a daily driver... low MPG / noisy and not really good grip on tarmac...
and indeed the 2.5 n/a does have a bit more torque (had one back in Australia)
it's the so called secondary air system active with a cold start. if you have a reprogrammable ECU best to cancel it out and close off the two secondary valves too as they will get broken too as they all do... good old Google is you man to find loads of info about this wonderful system
i have done that with my 1988 Renault 25 Turbo-D back n the time. i sourced all the original kit from a breaker and with some smoke and solder i had original cruise control B)
here's the thing; you will need an electric schema to know where to hack and what to get...
yep, yep; the only thing i had to hack was the connection to the Kenwood AMP but there are connectors available but i was too lazy to get one ;)
i just cut it off and if needed can solder it back on 8)
yep, yep, i bumped on the back of a Peugeot who stalled her engine while driving off resulting in dropping dead in front of me. Scooby only a slight scratch on the bumper but the Peugeot had more damage... And the woman driver claiming whiplash! Impact was about between 5 and 10 Mph.
check if you find a speaker around the steering column and there might be a switch also around that area. do you also find a small (Nokia) mic on the A pillar? altho that might be not there as the caller couldn't hear you.
my Forester had Traffic Master installed with indeed a 2" monochrome screen, sold it all on eBay
now driving a couple weeks with the Nexen tires and have to say they are very good.
low noise and better MPG. also i had to get used to how low the rolling resistance is when releasing the accelerator
make sure you get an insight of the bills to check his story as car sales man talk very sweet and are not home the moment you hand over your hard earned cash and getting the keys.
good luck
