CEL light.
it could have detted and been lean on pot 4 at that rpm. if you start car and switch it off 4 or 5 times, if the fault has cleared the CEL will go out (fault will be stored in the ecu) then drive around and see if it comes back on if it comes back on it could be a faulty sensor or split boost pipe if it doesn't come back on, it might just have been a one off, but if you can get the code read cheap, then do it

it nearly ruined the day, glad there were plenty of awesome motors indoors :) it rained heavy until about 12, then cleared up for an hour, then chucked it down for another hour, then brightened up with a few showers :(

new subaru owner still a noob but learning slowly
I haven't had much done by Scooby clinic so can't comment But for a remap, Pat is one of the best. He designed the software on aftermarket ECU's, so if he can't map it, no-one can

fuel pump/tank help/advice needed
When I looked in the tank there was more in than I thought there would be. I had a slight stutter about 10 mins earlier, but it felt the same as when my fuel pump failed last time. There isn't any sludge in my tank, I think that's a thing of the past. If you look inside a tank it's like new,

fuel pump/tank help/advice needed
on my way home from Mod Nats I called in a take away, when I got back in the car it wouldn't start, it was only just ticking over and then cut out. the fuel gauge read between empty and a quarter, so then I was thinking it was the fuel pump (it sounded different) so I phoned the AA, was told an hour. an hour later they phoned me and said they didn't have anyone available, so passed my details to the 'Mansfield group', they phoned me and then said about 90 mins so I decided to walk to the nearest petrol station, bought a can and a gallon of 97 ron, put it in and tried to start it and it fired up, now showing 1/4 tank???? so today I took the pump out and had a look, even out of the tank with the float fully down, it was still showing above empty, had a closer look and the needle onto the circuit board was displaced, so I straightened it up and then it was reading empty. put it all back together and the fuel light was now on. so today I filled up and needle went up to the top, but I only put 46 litres (plus 5 from jerry can) in????? it's a 55 litre tank. on my last blob the most I put in was 58 litres. so how come it was so low that it wouldn't start, but it only took 50 litres to fill it???

Tried a bung today
I only use one when we go on holiday, like 3 hours down to Brighton or 4 hours to Newquay. it just makes the journey more bearable for the kids, but I take it out when we get there. I wouldn't use one every day. the engine is restricted and won't rev. mine is the turbo so will have more of an effect on performance than the non turbo just get a different exhaust or resonated centre section

lol, I was looking for you and salsa king, but I didn't see either of you I went back to my car about 11ish and the car next to had a gazebo over it that was getting full of water and was bent down nearly touching the roof (classic RA) so me being the thoughtful kind person decided to empty the water out. just started emptying it and there was a gust of wind and it blew all the water back onto me all down the inside of my coat sleeve, front of my coat, jeans and shoes

for the tracker it's about £120 a year or £500 for lifetime. some insurance companies charge more if you have a tracker fitted!!!! and some charge more if it's garaged too!!!!

1 of only 300..........with the smart nav option . there were probably 10,000 wrx's sold, but only 300 could justify the extra £1,500 for sat nav. now they are using that as a selling point????? it looks a decent car and not a bad price

eek, I hope you don't regret that decision........

hi mate welcome to the club the hawkeye is one of the best looking scoobies. the mileage is fine, there are loads with over 100k, even 150k on the clock. my blob wrx is 105k and now running 330bhp. there are horror stories about failing 2.5 engines, take these with a pinch of salt. the sti has the highest number of failed engines, the wrx only has a small % of fails. but the one you are looking at has done over 100k, so if it was going to fail I think it would have done by now ;) 106k is high, but it has probably spent most of it's life sat at 80mph on the motorway. would you rather buy one with 30k that has been a weekend toy? driven hard every weekend? my last blob had 52k , FSH and felt a good car, my new one has 105k, no receipt's (the garage selling it had done every service and the owner was loaded and no expense spared) and feels like new compared to the old one don't just buy it cos it sounds good, or just because it has FSH, buy on condition and how it feels/drives don't rush into buying the first one you see
- Looking at getting a wrx

Looking at getting a wrx
I've fitted a VF35, pinks, a full 3" decat downpipe system, bigger top mount, custom remap why not look at one that's already modded? as long as you know the owner has looked after it and done mod's sensibly, then it will be cheaper than buying the car and then the bit's extra. there are usually decent cars on pistonheads or scoobynet

Looking at getting a wrx
even from the factory it cost £1.5k extra for PPP, but it was approved for the warranty. if you paid £300 for sports cat and £550 for a remap, you got better results, but warranty was void the PPP map was a generic map, designed for cars to get better performance over a wide range of variables for each car. if you get a custom remap, it is for your car and your mods

insurance companies
who did you go with? I wrote my last blob off (265bhp), bought a new one the week after and said it was standard, was quoted £950, I told them I had been buying parts to upgrade last one to 330bhp but hadn't got round to fitting them, so how much will insurance be if I fit them to new one and get 330bhp? £800!!!!
