  1. Bit delayed due to drama but picked my car up last night after having the gearbox recon. It needed a few more bits than just seals. 3 new bearings and 2 new synchro as advised by the builder. I did get the old bits so I know it must have new inside. Planned to collect it Wednesday but noticed a puddle under it and I was out of working hours. Turns out the drain plug was loose or the seal wasn't great. Either way had a pop at the mechanic and gearbox specialist. Drove home yesterday and first impression...I hate it. The new clutch and new parts make for a very clunky and aggressive gear change. That should gradually become more subtle as it all beds in...I hope. As you can imagine that original quote of £220 soon turned in to £510 for all work plus he didn't mention the original quote was minus VAT. tl;dr had gearbox rebuilt, not happy but it is all fixed.
  2. I had a good time at japfest. Only went on the sunday though.
  3. Nice!
  4. Trace the wiring back and check for breaks. Check the connector block too.

Great news all round then! Cheers gambit. It has been frustrating. Recently it keeps signing me out so I don't even get notifications anymore. I'm looking forward to the new version.

Wahey! That'll be great. Always wondered what was up. Thank you.
  7. Welcome to the club.
  8. Paid for gearbox repairs. 2/3/4 synchro were showing signs of age. Few other age related worn parts replaced to. Should have the car back tonight. Fitter said overall gearbox is in good health for its age and it's had an easy life.
  9. The oil is cooled at the modine by the coolant. If the coolant gets too hot it won't cool efficiently and could end up transferring heat.
  10. I know 120k+ miles won't hurt if it's been looked after 😁😋 Don't be put off by the miles. I almost was albeit an impreza but now on 172k (really proud of it lol) and still going strong.
  11. Ah what a shame! I'd usually be there later but I had my boy with me and he was way past the point being tired 😱
  12. What time did you send this? I left at 9:30pm along with a few others. Hopefully we will meet you at the next meet 😊😊
  13. Should be a fair few going. People usually leave around 9-10pm.
  14. I tested my friends keyless astra vxr. He left it running and got out with the key/card(whatever it is) and i took it for a drive. Not once did it stop me. I must've gone about 5 miles away from him before we decided it has no security.
  15. Check your fans work. Chances are it'll be the fan switch has failed.
  16. Do your fans come on?
  17. Dropped her off to have the gearbox stripped. I should get a call tomorrow from the gearbox specialist.
  18. Far too modern for me. I have a classic. There are a couple of guys own the forum who have the newer model. I'm sure they will pop up to help you better than I.
  19. Nice! I can't speak for dealers but you won't find a better or friendlier community. Our meets are the first Saturday of each month. You can find the info in the south east regional meets section of the forum.
  20. £220 if just seals, £475 if hubs/synchros/bearings need doing. He told me £475 is worse case. £100 labour for removal/install box/clutch/crank seal/removal of flywheel/spigot bearing. £220 Parts(clutch/spigot and seal). Box is healthy in regards to parts it just bleeds a little 😵 That big patch is over night.
  21. Welcome to the club! You can't go wrong with a Subaru. Maidstone is local(ish) to me if you're based in Kent we have a monthly meet near bluewater. If you fancy a visit to get an idea of the community you're more than welcome.
  22. Booked in for a gearbox rebuild. Plan is just the seals but it's having a full inspection. Clutch, spigot bearing and rear crank seal arrived Friday for it.
  23. First off, my apology for not keeping on top of posting information about these meets. This Saturday we will be meeting at the wharf for our monthly meet. It will start at 6pm. As always a few ground rules. Don't act like a clown. We have permission to hold our meets at the wharf from management and it's only fair we are courteous and respectful. Don't leave any rubbish in the car park. Feel free to bring the family. There is a nice park area for the kiddies to play and with the weather finally turning into summer I'm sure it will have plenty of use. Cotton Lake, Galleon Blvd, Dartford, Kent DA2 6QL I will update the post in a bit with the address and some pics
  24. A tick is less sinister. I think my email is visible on my profile. Failing that, pm me and ill reply. I cant send pms from the app.
  25. Does it sound like dull solid knock?
