  2. Had a gearbox let go on my nissan years ago on way back from Newcastle to Helensburgh - drove from Carlisle onwards with 4th gear only - was lucky it didnt grind to a halt but I broke a shaft so no grinding
  3. hmmm wonder if all this applies to my newly aquired 2008 2.0 auto rx? B)
  4. strange that both speakers are not working - if it was me I would have the panel off speaker out and check for a signal

  8. aaaahh it has indeed been addressed - burble yes boost no at this point but there is a reason ;) http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/14227-abstention-is-now-over/
  9. Wotcha and welcome - feel free to get stuck in and share some photos - do like the levins - almost had one years ago before really knowing what they were - however the chap selling it knew there were issues and wouldn't sell it to anyone he knew - I should have then gone and driven another regrettably I didn't and do feel I missed out - never mind :)
  10. Hefty chortle - the only way I would be anything other than entertaining would be at a break out event - that way I could get the several car lengths required to be competitive - on the plus side the in-laws have just seen it and it has been well received so given a bit of time and maybe letting them borrow it for a bit to get used to it there should be no issue when it comes to handing it over. Much as it hasnt got the turbo, having been out in it a couple of times now you dont bother with the brakes - just get up to speed, sling it into corners and boot it, handling is softer than the STI but it still grips like s*** to a blanket :)
  11. Keep us posted - always happy to provide solid reasoning ;)
  12. Boot and rear bumper protector in place
  13. Looking mint Clive, just caught up with the dyno vid awesome - brutally awesome :)
  14. Yup it was a case of - hmm are they HID's or not... well whilst Im here ill check the filter - ooh that comes off easily and all of a sudden there were 3 great big pieces of plastic sat on the drive :) - I think it would look a lot tidier with a cone and some piping but I would have to sort the casing breathers into a proper bottle as they all seem to feed into a big plastic box where the turbo cars I/C would be. Right Ill get stuck in with the jizer
  15. Engine is covered in green stuff which dirt and dust has now firmly attached itself - cannot work out if it is coolant or not from a split pipe that has not been cleaned off but id does seem to be everwhere?? Opinions? some white gunk here but I think that is where grease from the battery terminals has been jet washed?
  16. OK here are some pics - it will need the wheels refurbed as one has been seriously curbed and is probably the reason the inside of the tyres are scrubbed so a x4 wheel alignment will be on the cards prior to replacing those. Also found a 10 cd changer under the seat - a little brucie bonus the garage hadn't mentioned :P It has sat nav, bluetooth car kit, multi CD changer, HID lights, windscreen wiper deicer units, 17 inch rims and leather seats - I have to check but I believe these are all optional dealer upgrades. Have already added a subaru boot liner and rear bumper guard as the pooch will now occupy the luggage space - a guard may be the next thing if she decides she is too good to ride coach :)
  17. Wotcha and welcome - I must confess some of your abbreviations I dont fully understand - but Ill give you my view of where to go and others will be along with their suggestions Have a good look about the site as we have a few choice builds which would be food for thought. The Cobb unit is a great piece of kit but I would understand where you are starting from to make sure you dont blow your lump. I am guessing CBE is Closed-deck Block Engine?? - if so that unit with the right internals will be good for 400+ BHP but I would suggest the larger engine bolts, forged pistons with a balanced crank. above 320 BHP you would be looking at a front mounted intercooler. Again around the 350 mark you will need to look at the gearbox, a newage 6 speed box will take that type of power. An appropriate clutch at that point would ensure power transfer. Fuel pump will need replacing (a good thing to do if it is between 5 - 10 years old anyway) larger injectors and of course an associated turbo and exhaust system that can move the amount of air volume. The Cobb unit will help with management of all these mods as you go along. From a chassis perspective look at ensuring all is tight - get the bushes sorted, investigate uprated anti roll bars and have a decent strut brace in front and rear consider aftermarket / upgraded suspension units / coilovers Brakes will need to be in good working order - have a look at bigger discs and calipers but braided hoses after-market discs and pads are a good upgrade to standard with 5.1 fluid replacing the exiting stuff. A more cost effective option to bolting on power is to reduce the weight of the car improving the power to weight ratio - doesn't cost anything to remove the rear seats and any rubbish from the boot / trunk. All of this will depend on budget and what you would like to use the car for. But whatever you decide feel free to create a project thread and keep us posted - all friendly on here so jump right in. Food for thought http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/4905-2005-impreza-sti/ http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/11726-brockseys-project-thread/page-3 http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/3094-a-few-pics-of-my-project-so-far/ http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/14009-the-crow-prodrive-edition-v7-sti-blue-black/
  18. Lovely lovely lovely - but I am slightly biased when it comes to a hatch :P
  19. Wotcha and welcome - Check the oil level monthly, dipstick is easy enough to get to. Use shell Vpower or Tesco 99 ron. If it has not been done I would have a x4 wheel alignment check / setup, save you scrubbing tyres unnecessarily
  20. Wotcha and welcome - Im sure you wont any where near as many mistakes as I keep making so not to worry :D
  21. Wotcha and welcome - Im sure on of the classic owners will be along shortly to help
