  1. Wotcha and welcome Steve - Does the car run okay? - thinking possible blocked breather or failing that corroded / damaged pipe. Can you get the wheel off and have a good look underneath the arch, post some pictures if possible?
  2. Looking good - yup headunit with iPod control is something I'm looking at, can plug it in but not good trying to change things on the move
  3. Wotcha and welcome Alex - unfortunately I cannot help you with this one hopefully someone will be along in a bit with more insight
  4. Castle Combe for Japfest http://www.japfest.co.uk/ and Donnington Park for Japfest 2 http://www.japfest2.co.uk/
  5. relocated to correct forum - good luck with the sale :)
  6. Wotcha and welcome :) Its currently being considered - hopefully have something posted this week! Do you have a Subaru yourself - if so would be great to see some photos ;)
  7. Wotcha and welcome :) research I did before buying mine only pointed towards faults if used for continued fast road use or lots of track days. the wheel bearing housing on the WRX is not as big as the STI so track day type driving with lots of heavy braking can cause the bearing to fail due to the heat. I found parts are comparable to the nissan and mazda's I have had in the past. so as Gambit says listen for noisy big end, check the service history chat to the current/former owner if possible and give yourself some peace of mind
  8. Hi Mike wotcha and welcome :) post a few photos and that should get the suggestions and comments going!
  9. That would be great publicity for the site.
  10. Measuring as you are doing will give a rough idea if you are comparing a like for like measurement with an assembled unit on ebay The length of the spring will be a big contributor to the ride height - you can have a damper with two different springs and one will sit lower if the spring is shorter. The strut you have doesn't look like a higher spec coil over setup so wont have adjustable ride heights to worry about. If you separate the spring from the damper then you will be able to see just how much it was compressed by the damper / or not as the case may be. Doing that you will also be able to see how much the damper extends so you may be able to get away with just changing the springs instead of the whole unit
  11. I agree they are more to do with greed than any traffic calming - I am all for 20 mph outside schools to be enforced with cameras during the main hours of coming and going sitting on dual carriageways that are not associated with fatalities is just swelling the coffers and I have had one or two cough ahem points in my time associated with speeding, never been dangerous driving or over the limit etc and never in built up urban areas
  12. I upload mine to a hosting site like photobucket then copy and paste the link - it will then show up larger in the thread
  13. Wotcha and welcome - if you do start further mods dont forget to take photo's I do like a good project thread :)
  14. Found a few stone chips in the bonnet when I was detailing the other week - The paint and lacquer doesnt seem that thick so my plan was to have the whole bonnet done and have a couple of decent coats of lacquer to try and maintain the look once finished. I have seen chips away work before and the colour match was fine - although that was on a Ford It should be said though whilst Im not classed as OCD - when it comes to my cars and bikes I am a little bit on the fussy side ahem and things do bug me if not right
  15. 10k but as Mandy states with the potential for meets etc I can see that going up
  16. Wotcha and welcome Sean ;) What model do you have? Would be great to see some photo's of it Jay
  17. A lot of models / cars / bikes would not have come to this country in the first place had it not been demand from grey imports and as they are now not bringing in the new Impreza I see a flourishing grey market opportunity "embarassingly i dont know where the engine temp sensor is, even though ive had the engine out and rebuilt it,ha" - its not still sat on your work bench is it next to the one or two other bolts that I always find are left over after a rebuild?? :D
