  1. Hope you enjoy it! Looks very nice. You'll be itching to get the GT now!
  2. From personal experience, I'd say the compromise will cost you more in the long run. Spending 3k on a high mileage car, the miles are only going to go up and you'll never get the money back on it. A gt will never really loose any value and although will have slightly higher running costs, I'm sure you'll think it's worth it for what you really want. Go and test drive the GT, I'm sure you won't look back!
  3. It's difficult not to with cars like these!
  4. Not to mention money saved on petrol... I love my gtb, wouldn't change it for the world, but I genuinely used less petrol in my gx when it had a fuel leak! Arguably my heavy right foot is a contributing factor to my sub 20mpg
  5. Oh and don't those little aftermarket T-piece things that can enable you to run more boost play havoc with the ecu? Although that would likely be quite visible...
  6. Could it be the restrictor pill in the solenoid box itself?
  7. I don't dislike it, but I can't help but think it looks like some weird cross between a Saab and ford Mondeo?
  8. The "as soon as I get home" may have been a bit lost somewhere along the line, but I'm now paid up!
  9. Haha, shall I bring you an extra tub and a spoon? ;)
  10. Ah, got it! I'll crack on with that as soon as get home tonight. I'll see what I can do to try and bring enough scones, cream and jam for everyone.
  11. So I just pay on the link for the Sunday? I'll have to do it at home as I'm on mobile and it won't let me do it. Plus I'll be heading up early hours of Sunday morning if anyone else will be burbling up the m5 and fancies meeting for breakfast along the way?
  12. If you're still needed people to fill places I'm up for the Sunday. Been flirting with the idea, the 4 hour drive seemed a bit much, but sod it.
  13. Would you be able to fabricate something out of fibre glass to screw the clip back on?
  14. Thanks for the tip off. I've just sent him a message. Fingers crossed he can help! In all honesty, if it costs £500 I will pay it, just for peace of mind that it's done and done properly.
  15. I got straight onto it with a handeld vax. All seems to be ok. I've had to opt for k-seal as a temporary fix, not the most favourable option, but needs must (to be honest, I'm quite impressed with the result). I've been looking into getting the matrix replaced and I'm looking at £500 to get it all done properly. Is there anyone out there who's pretty nifty with this sort of thing and fancies a Sunday's work, a crate of your favourite beer and some money to do it? I'm willing to travel to you. And I can make pretty good cuppa?
  16. I did a bit of googling and it seems to be a fairly common problem. I was just unfortunate to have an incredibly extreme example of it. I think it's best just to laugh in these situations really isn't it? Hopefully I can cap off or bypass the matrix so I can at least drive the car until I've got a free weekend to get the dash out and replace the lot!
  17. Picked up my new gtb today. I must say, it's even better than I expected! I drove 200 miles home without it missing a beat. I then drove 10 miles to the Tesco garage and the heater matrix has died and I now have a passenger footwell full of coolant... Anyone had anything similar happen?
  18. I'd never thought of it that way round before... Been playing around online and managed to get a good enough (about £300 more) correctly insured.
  19. That's very true. Although I'm looking at about a grand more... And it doesn't come up with a model, just a 2 litre Legacy.
  20. This is how I've insured my gtb for £750 a year... Everyone loves a loophole.
  21. Thanks, that seems a bit more promising. It's just a case of needing something legal tread-wise, even if there is some slight rub on full lock or whatever, that I can readily get part worn just to tide me over for a month or so.
  22. I've got 18s on my bg5. Current tyres on it are 215/40/18. Anyone know if 225/40/18s will fit? Or how much they'd rub if they don't? Just need a cheap temporary solution so it's running on legal tread again.
  23. I've got it at a real bargain price all things considered... I'll do another update on current mods and some more pictures when I've got it. Seeing SOC still brings a slight smile to my face as it was the last part of my gx's number plate... I never made the connection at the time. I'd love to join you on one of your stands! I'm a bit tucked out of the way here in Devon and have never actually seen another GT/GTB in person.
  24. Hi all! After owning a 1995 Legacy GX wagon for a few months last year, I was definitely bitten by the Subaru bug. However, it wasn't in the best condition and was becoming a bit of a money pit, so I sold it and had a cheap run around for a while in order to save up for something a bit nicer. So after cutting back on the Saturday nights out and running the cheaper car, I've finally scraped together enough to go and pick up a 1997 BG5 GTB on Sunday. I've got it at a really good price, despite it needing 4 new tyres, and really cant wait to pick it up. I'm already a member on the UKLegacy site (which seems to have crashed?) but I am interested in all Subarus and I look forward to seeing everyone else fanaticism with these cars as well as sharing my adventures with my own. I'll attach some pictures of my soon to be.
