  1. Could you not use something like payitsquare.com?
  2. A few people chipping in a fiver would cover it pretty well surely? I'm more than happy to! Can you make a preview thing on there so we can see what it'll actually look like?
  3. Yeah, it must be... then just a simple switch under the dash.
  4. Welcome to the forum. That would explain my lack of reversing light! That looks very nice, I do like the a white legacy- although I'm glad mine isn't, it'd be filthy!
  5. Although £500 is a lot less than you could spend if you've got a rotten car!
  6. Bob Rawle tends to be the go to guy for mapping... I think 4-pot brakes from an impreza will fit your car, then braided lines etc. there's also a thing called a brake stopper that holds the master cylinder still so you get better pedal feel...
  7. Congratulations! You won't look back now! Because Japan have a higher octane level than our standard unleaded, the imports are designed to run on that. Tesco momentum or she'll v-power are 99RON are the closest we have in this country. Momentum is cheaper but shell do a driver's club card that'll get you money back :)
  8. I'm sure you've done some googling about, but don't forget to consider you'll have it run it on V-Power or Tesco momentum- or any other 99RON fuels if you're thinking about general running costs. Might be pointing out the obvious, but I'd hate for you to own it for a week and blow it up.
  9. I think it was the gen 4 auto boxes that tend to be a bit weak... I could be wrong though! Although generally just the usual stuff; service history, rear arch rust, cambelt etc. I think for what it's worth, you may as well get the petrol... There's only about a 10mpg difference, considering the price difference from petrol to diesel, would you be saving that much in fuel? I think all cars have their horror stories, so I wouldn't take all bad stories that seriously. A looked after legacy will go on forever!
  10. There must be a few of us from around the southwest on here? Thought it would be good if we could get us all together for a drive about on dartmoor- nice roads and plenty of photo opportunities. It's ideal now the good weather's kicked in! If anyone has any other ideas for a location feel free to drop it in, I just thought dartmoor is reasonably central for everyone round 'ere?
  11. On my old legacy I had a temperature guage that sat a bit low (lower than yours looks), when I replaced the thermostats the entire Middle had been cut out! I then discovered the temperature sender was knackered because I could get the supposed engine temperature to drop by bringing the revs up... Long story short, yours seems to be reacting normally. Welcome to forum. You won't regret your purchase one bit!
  12. Passed my test in 2013. Since then I've owned: 1996 Ford Fiesta LX 1.3 1995 VW Golf L 1.4 1997 Renault Laguna 2.0 1995 Subaru Legacy GX 2.2 2002 Ford KA Collection 1.3 (Complete with stick on flowers Volvo S60 d5 2.3 (owned but didn't actually drive it-my boss gave it to me because the crank shaft oil seal had gone) 1996 Subaru Legacy GTB 2.0 I also had a Aprillia moped when I was 16 and some Chinese copy of a Honda CM 125 when I was 17.
  13. I did something similar to someone sat up my rear going through a village at 30. Hit the national speed limit signs at the bottom of the hill the other side and got to the top before he'd realised what'd happened. I probably shouldn't generalise bmw drivers. Evo drivers try it on a bit too
  14. Well well well... Guess who prat of the day goes to?! I was just told a story about a guy filling up with v-power that turned out not to be so and cost him £15k for the repair. Luckily he had the receipt on him so shell paid for it... Guess who else also had a receipt showing they'd purchased £25 of v-power on Tuesday night? Thanks for all the advice/piece of mind though guys. At least I know what to do if I do it in future. I'll allow a bit of bullying in return for your help!
  15. That was a quote... It's gone a bit funny for some reason, possibly because I'm on mobile?
  16. I can't embarrass any BMW drivers at the lights :(. Not that I'm immature enough to race anybody...
  17. Cheers guys. I'm still not entirely sure whether it is 95 I put in, but I'll be careful and flush it through anyway. A week or so without boost is going to be tough though :'(
  18. I topped up my tank on Tuesday evening about £25 worth, so probably 1/3 of a tank or so and I've suddenly got a really horrible feeling that I put 95 in instead of 99. Am I still fairly safe running it on this mixture, if that's what I have done? Also I tried to check to see I've picked up triple points for it on my shell drivers card but apparently I've picked up none and yet I've used it twice? Hopefully someone can put my mind to rest that I've not done something detrimental to the car!
  19. I think Bob Rawle tends to be who springs to mind first... But I'm sure other people have much more knowledge on the matter than me
  20. Welcome, I'm also on the UkLegacy forum and can vouch for the fact that this bunch are just as helpful... I think everyone would agree that the sensible can go out of the window a bit sometimes. I personally look forward to see the single conversion :D
  21. Welcome! Where abouts in Somerset are you?
  22. Be a cool thing to see done... If you do it and it works, any chance I could buy your bg headlights? I want to try and de-tango them but I'm too scared to try it in my own ones incase I mess it up!
  23. I'd imagine the arch liners would have to be changed/adapted too. Not that that's a massive job...
  24. I had a black box in my fiesta when I first passed... It was the only way I could afford to do it. My sister was living in Yorkshire at the time, so I drove up and down a number of times visiting. Trying to do 70mph on the motorway is nearly impossible, particularly on a 300 mile trip. Not to mention the 20 zone that surrounds my house, a real pain later at night when nobody does 20 through it! I suppose it could be argued that because we pay more for our insurance, we're cautious of doing anything that could make it go up even more?
