Hi guys it's that time of year again, can anyone recommend an insurer for a lightly modified 2003 wrx that's a daily driver? Tried AF who've come back with 475, would like to know if anyone else can do better Sent from the moon using telepathy

Go for a 2.0 if you can, I doubt it'll be a massive insurance hike and a 1.6 will feel underpowered with awd. Sent from the moon using telepathy

I always thought turbos were over-rated. Then I bought one. Sent from the moon using telepathy

I'll start the bidding at a pot noodle of your choice and a mars bar. Seriously though depending on mileage condition etc anywhere between 1.5k-5k Sent from the moon using telepathy

Who needs a diesel when you have a wrx?

Suggestions for insuring a 2nd car
martyc replied to Jhosk1981's topic in Subaru Insurance Discussions
Put it on a limited mileage policy with a specialist should bring it down nicely. Whilst your ncb cannot be used on 2 vehicles it can be taken into account. I found the biggest factor in my insurance was I had only just bought the car, not many insurers like new owners of these sort of vehicles, particularly if you haven't had similar vehicles recently Sent from the moon using telepathy -
Find the MD and kick him about like that til his head's dented. !Removed! hate yodel, had to take a day off for a parcel to be delivered, then they didn't turn up claiming 'no access'. Told the customer service agent they need to discipline the driver for lying because I sat on my sofa watching the front door and gate all day!! Sent from the moon using telepathy

The burble, the pull you feel on boost, the all weather security, and the fact that I can enjoy all that and still do the weekly shopping or cover 2000 miles a month with ultimate reliability. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Wrx pro calipers seem a safe replacement if you're looking for oe spec. Tempted to do mine with braided hoses etc Sent from the moon using telepathy

That looks like it's been sideways into a lamppost or wacked severely by the corner of another vehicle. It's faaaar too angular to be a kick unless it's chuck Norris with a piece of angle iron on his foot. It 'could' be pulled and filled but it'd never look right, and it'd be a ton of filler. A new rear quarter would be needed. Panel work like that isn't normally cheap :( Sent from the moon using telepathy

Closest I can say from that pic is a round one on a Subaru... I'd hazard a guess at something like an afterburner Sent from the moon using telepathy

Best thing is ask a few local bodyshops, prices vary massively. Is it a colour change or just a tidy up? Have you considered vinyl wrapping? Sent from the moon using telepathy

New toyo t1-r's fitted to the rear at 67 quid a piece! Also had a looksie under the motor whilst they were being done and found out the inner cv gators have split, bugger!! Still, booked in for next week to be sorted. At least that explains the hot oil smell I've been having, where it has splattered on the downpipe. Sent from the moon using telepathy

Depends on budget. Buy on condition not mileage. Make sure it has been well looked after. Turbo models need a bit more tlc but they're not a bank breaker if you've got a good one and look after it. Sti's (the model, not the group of venereal diseases) are more focused but wrx's are very capable and probably a better all rounder as a daily (if you're modding anyway an sti might work out cheaper though). Imports can be more expensive to insure. N/A models can be nearly as thirsty. Give us more info and we can give more specific advice Sent from the moon using telepathy

Engine ticking in 1st and 2nd

Stone in your tyre, overcome by road noise at higher speeds?? Sent from the moon using telepathy -
2 guesses would be pump or rack. However, you do have enough air in your tyres don't you? I know someone who had the same problem in their IS200 and it turned out to be under inflated front tyres!! Sent from the moon using telepathy

Help/advice with subwoofer
martyc replied to HawkeyeLawrence's topic in Subaru Audio / Electronics / Security
Fit the sub box cables with banana plugs, that way you can chuck the box out when you need to, but the rest of the time you can enjoy the bass. You could make a low profile box to hug the rear of the seats and fix it in, but it'll still be extra weight you are carrying on a track day Sent from the moon using telepathy -
I've got Goodyear f1 as2's on the front and Michelin pilot sport 2's on the rear. I've done just over 10k and there's no major wear since purchasing the car on either set but the sidewalls on the rear have seen better days (perishing, the car hadn't done much mileage between 2012-2015) so putting some toyo t1-r's on the rear as I've had them on previous motors and been impressed. But I must say perishing aside both front and rear have been good to me so far with decent grip in all conditions covering larger than average mileage Sent from the moon using telepathy

Drive it, enjoy it. Work out what you want from it, probably lowering, exhaust and a panel filter, then if it was me I'd focus on the in car side and maybe a couple of cosmetic bits (I'd avoid going for a wrx/sti rep tho, I find it just baits attention then you'd get overtaken by a 1.6 corsa) Sent from the moon using telepathy

We had a heatline when we bought our house and it was dead within 5 months! Was the system flushed through when it was changed do you know? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Ordered oil and filter from opie oils, booked it in for oil change, white line drop links fitted all round and pre-mot check over, and ordered a pair of toyo t1-r's for 67 quid a piece fitted and booked in for week on sat thru black circles Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Silly questions but a) has the system been bled? B) is the boiler big enough for all the rads? C) are the valves sticking? Had something similar at home and it took a few taps of the hammer to get the valve to open properly! What sort of boiler is it and how many rads do you have? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I love the looks of the bugeye and yours is looking awesome! Good luck with the build, sounds impressive (imprezzive??) already! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oil pressure increase
martyc replied to martyc's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
I've been doing the same sort of runs the same time of day for 4 months and I've only just noticed it, might do an oil and filter change just to be safe (coming up to 5k anyway) and go from there. The paranoia in me instantly thinks head gasket or oil being pressurised by something happening in the cylinders but at idle it's same as it always has been Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
