  1. Go for soundproofing if the road noise is a worry. The background noise will still be there with a stereo, just masked. And soundproofing will make future stereo upgrades sound better too :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Sounds good :-) enjoy and if it takes your fancy, modify! Tons of help and decent advice on here Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Welcome, they are great cars, love mine too! Is it a wrx? The black and green works really well :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I love hertz stuff, not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Also in the past had good results with fli speakers (budget brand) and low end fusion Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. The gauge will go into vacuum until above 2500rpm under load (I.e driving) I used the vac pipe off the recirc valve on the intercooler Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I love my blob wrx, does everything I need from it, mile munching or back roads, shopping or school run. It's a great all rounder Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Used to be able to get a hot plastic glue gun bumper repair kit, then respray in bumper paint when I worked in a body shop as a trainee many moons ago. Don't know if it was trade only but something similar must be available Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Mpg is a small issue compared to the cost of dpf replacements! Even a forced re-gen only works if it's not totally mullered Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. I don't mean to sound anti diesel but unless they are used for long distance work and the odd hard throttle now and then legislation has killed all benefits of the Diesel engine, ie fuel economy etc. it's a common fault on all forums not just Subaru since dpf's were introduced Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I run at 34 all round, feels good and still stable in the wet, but the back end can feel more lively in less than optimal conditions. I don't mean drift lively, just the odd twitch if I misjudge throttle position Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. They'll soon get used to it. That's when you need a de-res centre section with an afterburner box Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. A standard exhaust is pretty good at silencing the system, I went from standard to prodrive, and the prodrive definitely makes more noise as the missus can now hear me coming ( ;-) ) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Put a standard back box on? The prodrive is pretty inoffensive compared to many! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I used to drive like a granny in the wet so can't comment on that point :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Had toyo twice before on other cars, great for grip and vfm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. A lot are failing on this now, however I think you can get an aftermarket alloy part from some quick research, ideally someone needs to start putting these into production in oe style however. However it is a bolt on part, and if they become available there could be a good supply of otherwise decent mot failures going cheap.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Good classics are getting recognised. I'd say a bug eye would probably be a safer budget bet imo Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Get a deep cycle battery as they take heavy discharge and it doesn't really affect their ability to be recharged, some batteries don't like heavy drains and can damage the plates. You can probably get a voltage regulator to cut supply if battery drain gets too much. Or chuck a small battery in the footwell for an emergency get you home to chuck on if you do kill the main! Plus a decent second battery set up would add weight but if you've got a reasonable install then performance won't be a priority anyway. The best set ups are simple, 6x9s in a rear shelf and subs can often not be a good idea. Putting them in the front doors in custom pods would be amazing. A pair of well driven front components and sub(s) is all you need to turn heads and hurt ears. I spent a lot of my youth doing installs, and still have books on the subject down to the fine dynamics which is beyond me and you need a friggin degree to understand! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. A proper split charge system should have a controller to monitor battery voltage to prevent the main battery draining totally. Looking at the specs a 2x 100w rms 2 channel, and a 500w rms mono amp would be sufficient to drive these hard. That's not a huge amount of juice, just upgrade the main battery with the biggest you can fit. I've ran bigger systems in the past off standard charging arrangements. Don't get drawn into 'peak' wattage figures, it's the rms figures that count and that you'd use to calculate current supply Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. You'd need a split charging system. Tbh not worth it unless you have BIG audio. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Modern Diesels are notoriously crap for low speed or short journeys because of the dpf issues. They need high speed driving to help keep them clear. It's not really subarus fault but more a combination of enforced legislation and poor sales guidance. You either need to drive enthusiastically more often or consider a vehicle more suited to your driving style, I.e a petrol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. When the head gasket goes a bottom end refresh is advisable due to the bottom end being put under pressure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Boost is also dependant on load, so you may not get full boost depending on conditions. Or your wastegate could be getting weak maybe? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. The downpipe cat is said to be fine, the others help when cold I'm having the scrubber cat removed soon and I've heard that it should be ok without remapping, I will let you know how I get on and if I get a cel etc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Forge have a better rep than baileys on imprezas, however my baileys works fine at the minute. But my missus loves baileys and gets her to do naughty things (not the dump valve manufacturers....) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
