  1. I have the same.. Not a scooby what is causing it but could be PS fluid? Hadn't thought of that one.
  2. I was going to say check the IC pipes for oil.... Mine has 147k and doesn't use a drop. I think I'm lucky...
  3. I wish I could get anywhere near that... I get 220 per tank on a bog standard 2003 Blob.. :(
  4. Coil packs could be the reason for the misfire but not the excessive fuel consumption if you're driving it normally. Must be running pig rich. I'd contact him and let them know how rich it's running. Last thing you want is bore wash... The fuel will work past the rings and contaminate your oil. Basically waters down your oil... Can also glaze bores. I'd have thought a faulty crank sensor would have poked it's head up on the OEM ecu.. It's not as if its a performance part under extra stress.
  5. When you say big end went.. You mean big end on the rods? Or did it spin a bearing? I'm just trying to sus out the weak spot on these engines, If it's failing rod bolts then could be an easy preventative fix upgrading to ARP's
  6. I had a simular problem in my CRX.. Had a misfire for months, Couldn't boost over 11psi and could'nt rev past 6k.. Changed everything (almost) New coils, closed plug gaps, warmer grade plugs colder plugs, Data logging ect. Then borrowed a set of HT leads and it cured it Rev to 8.5k and boosting to 16psi... I felt pretty stupid after all that lol Glad yours is fixed
  7. Great stuff! Mind if I ask what went wrong on the old lump?
  8. With regards to running in... It doesn't matter if it sees boost. Boost would probably help the rings seal. However type of oil used will make a huge factor. You don't run an engine in on anything synthetic. Mineral oil only... Heavy loading of the engine (WOT), not stupid revs and let the engine come back down the rev range (plenty of vacume). I'd personally ask for proof of rebuild and ask if the block has been overbored. You'll never get rings sealing without a hone and I'd not want just a hone on these engines. Piston to wall tolerances need to be correct or you'll get a slap on. I assume the 2.5 lump runs cast pistons? Paul.
  9. Super thread revival... Has anybody ever managed to squeeze 8" subs under the seat or in the front doors? The car is seriously lacking in sound and punchy bass... I've got 2 BNIB JBL's and would like to use them in the Blob... However I need to retain my boot space for my tools.... I might have a play this weekend..
  10. Has anyone had any joy in replacing the O2 sensors on a higher mileage car? By this I mean in respect to fuel economy... I know a lot will probably be running open loop from having being remapped but I'm sure there are still plenty on here with OEM cars and bad fuel economy.. Can anyone confirm how many the Newage use and if they are narrowband or wideband?
  11. I use Millers 10-60NT in my Honda as it's proper wound up and see's a lot of heat but I'll be using 5-40 synth in my OEM WRX over the winter months.
  12. Does the ECU use IACV duty cycle? Sounds like the IACV needs bringing down to stop the 2000rpm issue. FWIW, Ben is a good tuner.. He teaches the PGMFI Acdamy.. Also just bear in mind 300bhp on Eurospec's rollers is 320 on most others. The Dyno is a tuning tool, They all read slightly different, Some are heart breakers some are generous. Paul.
