  1. Where is this mr b from then?
  2. Just posted on your other thread.
  3. I'm on the Devon/Dorset border, would be happy to meet a few of us south westerners if we can get a few. I think there is another new (ish) member from Tiverton area. Let me know if you get something sorted. But I am an old guy lol
  4. Would it connect to an iPad? Any suggestions?
  5. You could try Andy forest (think that's his name) based in Edinburgh as far as I know. Some say he's the best in the country.
  6. Think you miss read tidgy, kershaw says £1000 for turbo back. £600 for ecutek map. Punctuation would've helped lol
  7. Nice looking car. Where about dare you? There are a few good mappers out there, just depends how far you want to travel.
  8. I once read somewhere (could've been on here) that for you to see any gain from having a diesel over a petrol, you need to be doing at least 18,000 miles a year. Not sure how accurate that is, but when you see the small price difference between the 2 fuels, and a clever bit of driving, I can see it's not far out. Even with a WRX/STI. Only more temptation to use the right foot. I did have a 2L n/a impreza and I could get quite good mpg. Just food for thought.
  9. Plenty of companies around, but at as guess the price would be very similar. What car do you have?
  10. It was £200 to take gearbox out and then put back in, gearbox was sent off reconditioned and sent back for £595. Not too bad, just wish it hadn't needed to be done. But what a difference. I think most of my box was as good as new except the tail-shaft bearing that was replaced. If yours needs more then price could go up. I did think about getting a secondhand one, but I think the cost reflects that and I now have a 'good as new' gearbox.
  11. I just had a similar sound with mine that disappeared out of gear. I had my gearbox reconditioned and it turned out to be the tail shaft bearing. Hope yours is a simple and cheap fix, but does sound like a bearing of some type.
  12. Got her back. What a difference. Can actually hear the scooby sounds. Amazing how loud the bearing actually was.
  13. Gearbox reconditioned, hope to collect Saturday. As long as it arrives back tomorrow. It had a tail shaft bearing fail. Can't wait to get her back.
  14. Nice one thanks stants, got s couple years left on mine then.
  15. Hi all just wondering when the intervals for change timing belt are. My car is a 2005 blob at 285bhp Thanks
  16. 3 days without my car and I miss her [emoji22]
  17. Nope iOS I'm afraid. Scooby world do a wireless odb connector, but it's £125.
  18. As title, has anyone done this successfully? If so, what have you used? Thanks
  19. Price quotes for taking it out and putting back in £200. I've had that same price from a few places. Recon the gearbox, depends what needs doing to it. Could be £300 could be £900. Then factor in a new clutch if needed and I think I'm looking at £1500, I did think of a 6 speed conversion, but you could easily double that. This way I'll have a nearly new gearbox. So happy days
  20. Just dropped her off, and they confirmed my suspicion. A bearing in the gearbox. He said it doesn't seem to bad. The tell tell sign was a bit of black on base of plastic on the gearbox dip stick and the smell of the oil. Hope that helps anyone else trying to diagnose similar problem. So I'm having the gearbox sent of for a full refurb. Having clutch checked and replaced if needed. Couple weeks and she'll be back on the road to terrorise the holiday makers lol
  21. What's the plate? Someone might be interested here
  22. Booked in for Tuesday morning. Hopefully we will get to the bottom of it. Fingers crossed. Whatever it is, it will be getting fixed. I intend to keep the car for many years.
  23. Couldn't see any leaks, maybe just vapour. Should I replace the canister or try adding some zip ties to the pipes?
  24. Think you're right savage. Day off today so had bonnet up then started the car. No smell from engine bay, but petrol smell around the charcoal filter area. Hope to get it on the ramps later and have a route around. Could the filter just need changing? Do they 'run out'?
  25. I've found a 'Subaru expert' in Bournemouth, about an hour from me, so I'll give them a ring tomorrow. Hopefully they can have a look at the car and we can get this fixed. They are called triton motor service. Has anyone heard of them?
