  1. Also I forgot to mention the hawkeye and newer are in a higher tax bracket. I think it's £500+ per year. Blob and older are £295 per year. But that does look a nice car.
  2. Hi and welcome. Many discussions on this very topic. Some say the 2.5L engine (hawk eye and newer) is not as strong as the older 2.0L, while other will say they have never had a problem. Main problems reported with the hawk are head gaskets and ringland, but a good maintenance routine could help combat any problems. I was very much in your shoes a short while ago, and I decided to go for the blobeye (2.0L) WRX. I had an old classic sport a few years ago and had confidence in the engine. Also other will say for that money you should be able to get a blobeye sti, is there any reason why you want the WRX and not the STI? I wanted the low spoiler and a slightly softer ride. I wanted to blend in and not stand out.
  3. I'm no expert but, it sounds like something is might be out of alinement. Have you had a look at all suspension arms, springs etc ?
  4. Great look. Shame your not closer. Thinking about getting mine refurbished
  5. Hey, I'm from Bridport area too. When did you get it? I've not seen you about. Seen some others pass through.
  6. My prodrive exhaust has prodrive stamped on the tail pipe.
  7. Thanks for all the advice. The 2 I've got are in my garage and I'm at work. Will check tomorrow, but a bonus, asked my wife if she still has receipt, which she does, and which ever ones I have she said she will order the others. Happy days. I've done brakes before, many times, but not for a while. And only ever done drums on the rear. I was being lazy and bored as I had a 4 hour wait to unload my truck. Thanks for all info. Great help
  8. Ok thanks, do you know the difference so I can see what I've got or should the box tell me?
  9. Hi just a quick question. My wife got me a pair of brake disc for my blob WRX for Christmas, are they the same disc front and back?
  10. No worries, I work a lot of weekends too. I work a 4 on 2 off shift pattern. But I happen to have the week off now [emoji1]. Axminster is good, but if you want to meet more halfway that's fine too. Depends what kinda roads you wanna be on. I like smaller A roads and B roads. But whatever suits, I'm quite easy going [emoji1]
  11. Great info, thanks. Should I wait until spring to give it a good going over or do you think it would be ok to do it now? I have next week off and was going to devote a couple days to the scoob [emoji1]
  12. Hi all I've been looking at all the topics about the various polishes and waxes etc and I could be getting a bit confused. I've only ever really used t cut to hide/ remove scratches and the auto glym polish for the shine. I've only ever really had 'run of the mill' car and auto glym put a nice shine on them. But since owning my WRX I can't but help thinking that I can do better. I've seen a lot of people mention waxes, am I missing something? Do you use a wax as well as a polish? Any tips and trick to get the ultimate deep shine will be gratefully received. Many thanks
  13. Oh and I don't know if you know or if anyone has mentioned it, but the best fuel for your new car is 99 ron. Either shell v power (1st) or Tesco momentum 99. I would imagine it was remapped for it.
  14. There's never time to do 2 cars lol. Looks a great car. I've been think about changing my turbo etc to get it over 300bhp (currently 285). Would be good to compare yours and mine, if you fancied a run out one day [emoji1]
  15. Very nice [emoji1]
  16. Thanks. I've got iPhone, but I think I've found it. Will try it tomorrow morning. If got an early start. I'll be the only one about. Dead quiet.
  17. Hi. Just being nosey, did you get the car?
  18. Hi all As the title says. Looking for a set of fog light covers (any colour) and a lower front grille for a blobeye. Many thanks
  19. That's a long way to go. Are there none down this way? Yes if turbo is standard, the most it could be is 280-290. If it just had a remap with standard stuff then I guess your looking at 250-260bhp. A gearbox change (to 6 speed) your looking at around £2k all in. It's not just a 'get a gearbox and swap' job. There are other things to it. And yes clutch while your at it. They charge £420 all in, if memory serves me right, for a remap. What mileage does the car have? What other info do you have. Maybe a link to the ad. Tiverton isn't too far from me. I got my car not far from there. I live near a town called Bridport. Going towards you, I guess the first town I come to is Axminster. You are about an hour away.
  20. It ok. I zoomed into the pic and saw they are 18", I want to stay 17". Thanks
  21. Oh and also, I assume it's a 5 speed manual. If so the 5 speed box the most you'll get out of it safely without it going bang is about 320-330bhp. The 5 speed is a weaker gearbox than the 6 speed in an sti. Having said that the box could go bang with just 250hp, but should be ok to around 330 tops.
  22. I like those, but I have a 2005 WRX, would they fit (what size are they?) and how much is a sensible offer? Thanks
  23. Hi and welcome. I'm in Dorset and I took my blob to Alan Jeffries (thinks that was his name) in Plymouth. I highly rate them. They will supply and fit anything to do with a scoobys. Where abouts in the southwest are you? I'm no expert, but the standard turbo on a WRX (assuming it's not an sti) would be limited to 280-290bhp. To achieve the 320bhp that you say it's advertised you would need more than just a re map. Turbo, injectors, air filter etc. So I would check what mods have/not been done. If the car has had a remap the owner should have a dyno printout to show the figures, but again with a tdo4 turbo you will not see those figures. And yes any power gain that you want, most will need a remap. When looking at car check the underside (wings, sills, subframe etc) for rust. Check oil, water, tyre wear etc. The usual. Would be good to have a fellow southwesterner around and maybe have a run out. Cheers Oh and experts, please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks
  24. Thanks seems like a reasonable price, but I just remembered it's my wife's birthday next week and I'm not sure a turbo for my car would be the best choice of present lol. If you still have it this time next month let me know [emoji1]
