  1. Makes sense. That would depend on which transmission and engine you have as Tidgy just said. From what I understand, the blob JDM DCCD has shorter ratios in 5th and 6th than a blob UK DCCD. All down to the gearing and the engine like Tidgy said, 2L JDM needs longer ratios because it revs higher than UK, which has shorter ratios. Right?
  2. Ah, gotcha. I've got a lot to learn about the Subaru world. Makes sense. I prefer the 6 speed as well, although I would of thought the 5 would have better ratios. In saying that my hawk goes through the gears pretty damn quick I must say. Pretty clued up on older EG/EK Honda's though if anyone ever needs help 😂 Oh aye, if you can! Been wanting to make a lamp out of one for my smoking shed (cigars!) but am having trouble finding blown ones! Haha yeah that make me laugh too 😂
  3. I got sucked into reading it from start to finish as well haha! Put a follow on it. Looks a mint build. Wish my wife understood...she thinks I'm going through a mid life crisis...I'm only 27! I've just always loved me cars! 😂 Keeps saying I'm never just happy with what I've got 😒 Where's the fun in that! 😉 Where are you sitting now then? Did I read you're going to put a hawk DCCD in? Car looks nice though, shame about all the engine issues though. Bet it cost a few pennies! P.s if you're old turbo is gone completely and can't be rebuilt I'll gladly take it if your hands instead of throwing it in the wheelie bin!
  4. Haha mint. Keep the next blown one for me! For my cigar smoking shed! 😉😊
  5. Ugh for real mate? Check this out. My mate made it and I want to try making one or two!
  6. Looks nice! Welcome!
  7. Ah yeah, take part. AutoX you can do with a bone stick car. 😊
  8. Oh, I've heard of this! Yeah it sounds good, but I don't want too many stone chips in the gravel section 😬😱 would definitely have to check it out though. Was just curious if AutoX was about over here as I'd love to do some of those. RallyX sounds good too though. Thanks for the heads up!
  9. Haha face ache 😂
  10. Aye, they are for sure mate. Am very pleased with them. They closed at 5:30pm and he was messaging me last night still at 8! Think they just bought a blob for their "winter shop car" as well haha.
  11. Anyone know if this is a thing over in the UK? Was great in the States to the few I did attend. Basically very short tight little courses made wth cones, never went above 40mph, but tests driving skill (and different classes for different mods to cars) and how well your car can perform. A lot of fun. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autocross
  12. Hey everyone, just curious as to if anyone has any completely blown turbos that are scrap they don't want or need anymore. Can pickup if fairly local to Newcastle or can pay for the shipping. Want to try making a little desktop piece out of one 😊
  13. It was done in Singapore. They've double checked it for wear and everything. They're doing a full service of all fluids (trans., oil, brake, etc.) and have done a full inspection on everything else. Have to say JM Imports have been first class and nothing is too much bother for them. They're even doing a reroute for the DEFI gauges into the triple hood pod and a double A pillar pod set for me. Going to move the link into the glovebox to keep it discreet/clean looking (unless someone comes up with a much better idea quickly! Also thinking of setting the boost gauge warning at 18.5psi? That sound about right? Should be 14.5 from factory, but it's got a exhaust and intake on it...what's the best way to watch and rid of boost creep as I'm not entirely sure if it's been tuned (appeared so as it never really went above 1.2 bar and then tapered off). Keeping the turbo timer and APEX in the same place. They sent me this photo last night too. Side note, does anyone have or know if any completely blown turbos that are scrap? I'd like one to try a little project with (lamp making?)
  14. Haha! Yeah! Don't get it till next week so I'm gutted about that! Full service, alignment. Compression test came back at 174psi across the board, so it's great. Timing belt and water pump both look in good condition and ready to rock! Can't wait to pick it up next week!
  15. Yep, it's been undersealed. Definitely going to have it double checked over. Deposit paid though!
  16. Yeah, they've all been fixed though. http://jm-imports.co.uk/index.php/2006-subaru-impreza-gdb-sti-widetrack-6-speed-manual/
  17. Viewed the hawk again...pretty sure I'm going to buy it. Love it. Just awaiting the timing belt check.
  18. Can someone confirm what the compression should read on the EJ257 engine? standard 142psi - 171psi fairly sure, limit 128psi. Max difference between cylinders 7psi?
  19. I'm in the same predicament as you...I have about 9k to spend and found a hawk, but not built up here in the North East. Think there's a silver hawk (56 plate?) at a place called Tony Gilberts down south that's completely built. Think he was asking 10 large ones though...
  20. Well, for me and daily usage at the moment, I think stock is safest option. Going up to JM tomorrow after work for another test drive and possibly out a deposit down! 😱😬 have a mate Stateside as well who had one, no issues. Seems pot luck...
  21. Got the fog lights, just don't see the covers. I'll ask.
  22. Haha 😂 Ugh, very torn on what to do...think I'm starting to do my wife's head in now with it too haha 😂
  23. Yeah it is mate. How prevalent is the issue? Is it only on modified ones, or is it even from the factory like that? Figured it's that price as apparently in Singapore they have to scrap or pay a fee to keep cars over 10 years old.
  24. Aye mate, it's from Singapore I believe he said. 2.5L Type UK hawk eye registered in Feb. of 06 so it's actually on the smaller tax band as well. I was just curious about the front lip as I've seen some with and some without. Figured it might of been a factory option. Not sure on the fog lights though, I thought all the STi's came with the covers and the pink STi stickers on them? Unless the fogs are a factory option as well? I don't mind them in all honesty, just use to seeing the covers on them. Just asking the experts 😉 What does a non-import hawkeye Type UK cost roughly? Is that a decent price?
  25. Hmmm, are the fogs a factory option as well then? This one at JM has them...
