Help, looking to purchase Hawkeye STi
Haha yeah it did! Mate, I think I'm only getting about 18 at the moment 😂 Jesus, just drove the Qashqai around the corner quickly as had to run a short little errand for my sister in law...so slow and the clutch was feather light 😂

Holy MPG Batman!!
Yes mate, I know it is. 93 RON in the US is made with the AKI and MON. Therefore IS 93 is UK 97.4 aka Super Unleaded. Here's a conversion chart that uses the formula's: http://www.pencilgeek.org/2009/05/octane-rating-conversions.html Plus the ECU should in theory read and compensate for the different octanes by retarding the timing and lowering the maximum boost output, even if it is slightly worse. Sticker on fuel cap says use Super Unleaded only. Like I said, seems to be running like a champ at the moment. Obviously if available and near by I'll put the 99 octane in...

Aye, I will do, just I was desperate at the time. First garage I went to didn't even have 97...

They do have a different tune. Same exact engine as the Type UK, but the UK is 20hp less than the USDM versions. If USDM can run on 93 US (which is like 97 UK) I would assume the UK can run fine as well? Why? It's running fine on the "Super Unleaded" from Sainsbury's?

Yeah, obviously makes sense. Pretty sure 97 octane will be fine as that's what 93 octane is in the US and I'm pretty sure all the US guys use that and not "race fuel" (97 octane from the pump, very difficult to find at garages).

Help, looking to purchase Hawkeye STi
Haha just replied in that thread. Hmm yeah at the moment, I don't even think I'm going to hit 200! I only put my foot down twice yesterday briefly and did about 25miles...1/8th gone. Oh well 😊 Did use Sainsbury's super unleaded though...it's the easiest for me as Shell is way out of the way and Tesco's, well I have no idea if there's even one about.

Holy MPG Batman!!
Just got my 06 STi...£63 to fill up from very low down into the fuel light (nearly ran out on way home! He forgot to put some in and in my excitement I forgot to stop and put it in! Used Sainsbury's Super Unleaded (97?) which should be ok...I hope? Only managed to get 55L in it. I don't have a Shell local to me (would be massively out of the way to go to it) or a Tesco's nearby either. Haven't noticed any issues yet, got on it twice yesterday for a short burst and lost about 1/8th of a tank...20miles in...my wife's gunna kill me 😂

Help, looking to purchase Hawkeye STi
Cheers for the link. I did find one on ScoobyNet or something, but it was all over the place. Some saying between 210-300...was getting a bit worried there haha! Wonder what sensibly is considered? Only really got on it twice quickly yesterday... At any date I'll start a build thread soon 😊 Am very pleased overall though!

Mate, I didn't even realise until you said and went and had a look haha, I've saved them and posted them here! Can already tell she's going to be very thirsty...what do you guys average roughly in mileage per tank? My wife isn't very impressed when I said around 18mpg...I only drive to work and back which is about 10miles each way. Will have to keep my foot up a bit I think, but it's so hard with just getting it! Gunna have to get a build thread going 🤔😬😉😊 nothing major yet though, but already got some pods, although I'm not overly happy with the A pillar ones they did...they used a screw to keep it up 😡 *smh* also began to notice a issue already. Seems like the heating is temperamental. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Hope so, just heard back from him saying pillar pods are done, just waiting on the centre bit, so hopefully tomorrow or Thursday.

Also maybe the fog light covers for a STi?

Tidgy's project Type R
I remembered seeing this floating around...might be of some help? http://www.gearhack.com/myink/ViewPage.php?file=docs/Subaru Transmission Chart
-
Tidgy's project Type R
Makes sense. That would depend on which transmission and engine you have as Tidgy just said. From what I understand, the blob JDM DCCD has shorter ratios in 5th and 6th than a blob UK DCCD. All down to the gearing and the engine like Tidgy said, 2L JDM needs longer ratios because it revs higher than UK, which has shorter ratios. Right?

Tidgy's project Type R
Ah, gotcha. I've got a lot to learn about the Subaru world. Makes sense. I prefer the 6 speed as well, although I would of thought the 5 would have better ratios. In saying that my hawk goes through the gears pretty damn quick I must say. Pretty clued up on older EG/EK Honda's though if anyone ever needs help 😂 Oh aye, if you can! Been wanting to make a lamp out of one for my smoking shed (cigars!) but am having trouble finding blown ones! Haha yeah that make me laugh too 😂

Tidgy's project Type R
I got sucked into reading it from start to finish as well haha! Put a follow on it. Looks a mint build. Wish my wife understood...she thinks I'm going through a mid life crisis...I'm only 27! I've just always loved me cars! 😂 Keeps saying I'm never just happy with what I've got 😒 Where's the fun in that! 😉 Where are you sitting now then? Did I read you're going to put a hawk DCCD in? Car looks nice though, shame about all the engine issues though. Bet it cost a few pennies! P.s if you're old turbo is gone completely and can't be rebuilt I'll gladly take it if your hands instead of throwing it in the wheelie bin!

Blown Turbos
Haha mint. Keep the next blown one for me! For my cigar smoking shed! 😉😊

Help, looking to purchase Hawkeye STi
Aye, they are for sure mate. Am very pleased with them. They closed at 5:30pm and he was messaging me last night still at 8! Think they just bought a blob for their "winter shop car" as well haha.

Blown Turbos
Hey everyone, just curious as to if anyone has any completely blown turbos that are scrap they don't want or need anymore. Can pickup if fairly local to Newcastle or can pay for the shipping. Want to try making a little desktop piece out of one 😊

Help, looking to purchase Hawkeye STi
It was done in Singapore. They've double checked it for wear and everything. They're doing a full service of all fluids (trans., oil, brake, etc.) and have done a full inspection on everything else. Have to say JM Imports have been first class and nothing is too much bother for them. They're even doing a reroute for the DEFI gauges into the triple hood pod and a double A pillar pod set for me. Going to move the link into the glovebox to keep it discreet/clean looking (unless someone comes up with a much better idea quickly! Also thinking of setting the boost gauge warning at 18.5psi? That sound about right? Should be 14.5 from factory, but it's got a exhaust and intake on it...what's the best way to watch and rid of boost creep as I'm not entirely sure if it's been tuned (appeared so as it never really went above 1.2 bar and then tapered off). Keeping the turbo timer and APEX in the same place. They sent me this photo last night too. Side note, does anyone have or know if any completely blown turbos that are scrap? I'd like one to try a little project with (lamp making?)

Haha! Yeah! Don't get it till next week so I'm gutted about that! Full service, alignment. Compression test came back at 174psi across the board, so it's great. Timing belt and water pump both look in good condition and ready to rock! Can't wait to pick it up next week!

Yep, it's been undersealed. Definitely going to have it double checked over. Deposit paid though!
