  1. Depends, you can get it as a factory option, but also like you say could be after market, easiest way to tell is the factory tints have passenger & rear quarter v dark and boot normal tint. If aftermarket i'd expect the boot to be a lot darker. To be fair the foz has a lot of glass and I'd hate not to have the tints as it keeps a lot of the heat out of the rear. Plus people are nosy so and so 's
  2. Maybe if you manged to remove the bolt and had something small enough to fit through the holes in the diff outrigger then through the floor, I just roughly measured and tapped the floor so I could hear where abouts I was, The captive nut sits in it's own box section so it's a bit of a pita to get at. Alternatively if you'd removed the whole of the front of the rear diff carrier you could get a lot easier access but that's a big job in it's self
  3. After my experience last week with the install and trying to find a solution it appeared there wasn't a great deal around. So if like me you manage to break the welds on the catlptive nut all is not lost, Start by making a brew and taking a moment to compose yourself after the panic/rage wears off, the captive nut is located in a box section under the o/s passenger seat, Start by removing the two 12mm bolts that hold the seat base down Lift off to reveal this, There's already a small hole in the bottom right of the picture which is fairly close to where you need to be, If you peel back the black foam protector which holds some of the loom onto the seat you'll see it's slightly raised, I started off with a 5mm bit and made a pilot hole where I thought it was, 1st one missed by miles hence my finger covering it up in the pic, the 2nd one was pretty much spot on over the top of the nut Being at work I only had limited tools, so I drilled 4 more holes round the main pilot then opened the area up with a Jr hacksaw blade, Please ignore the 4 holes I drilled in error at the top of the pic, the phone went by the time I returned I couldn't remember where I left off [emoji35] Finally after much skinning of nuckles there she is ! The top of the captive nut is 19mm so depending on what your plan is, you can either re weld captive nut or just do as I did, 19mm on top and 17mm on underneath of car and re tighten, this was a quick fix as I needed to drive car home, The following day I made good the pilot I messed up by priming and repainting the bare metal, followed by injecting some silicone sealant and sealing the underside of the car, as for the 2" square hole I used to access the captive nut I've left it open but covered with a piece of duck tape so I can keep an eye on it with a view to re welding the captive nut in future
  4. Ah ok, no idea then. I take it it should be in warranty ? I'd go back to dealer to be on safe side
  5. If the ulimatum came to it i don't think you'd regret it if you did have to part with the impreza for the forester, I had to change from two to four seats due to baby arriving, chose the forester as it was a little more practical and discreet, I can keep up with a couple of impreza owners who have at least 100 hp more than me, and it has all the traits of the impreza but you sit that little higher
  6. It's rubbish don't use it only good if your stuck and need to get home with no intention of using engine again.
  7. Just come across these on the bay, if there's any new model owners http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=191704512793&alt=web Cheap !
  8. What year is your car ? If it's anything like the older cars you have to lift up gear gator surround, undo the two screws there and a couple in the cubby box and the centre console just lifts away
  9. From what I've been told subaru's don't really do the mayo thing or drink all the coolant, they expel it all instead so If it's going mental in the expansion tank probably why
  10. Think so you did purge me last time though [emoji38] I'll have a look later on again
  11. If rims willing to take a look then it looks like if all ok you'll be fine, the heads on a 2.5 were supposed to be a little weaker but if it's 10 years old and the heads haven't gone by now I think it soul be ok, just have to see what Tim thinks, I'd get some prices for that lamp replacment as the ones from subaru cost about 380 [emoji50]
  12. All depends on you Clive ,if weather's good we'll get down early, if not and you chaps don't come up I think we'll be heading down a little later, I'll see as I'm half tempted to do a run on the sat so then I can get !Removed! on evening and not worry about trying to launch badly with a hangover [emoji52]
  13. In paintshop amd you can choose designs instead of going into storefront, when i changed it to freinds designs none of yours appeared dog, Am I doing something wrong ?
  14. I'm no expert but if it's spitting out it's a sure sign of the heads gone,
  15. The 2.5 will have loads more torque plus the forester is geared towards more low end than the impreza, it's a nice driving position and people aren't as attracted to trying to race you everywhere, maybe give the clinic a ring see if they can shed any light on what's been done on it there, not sure what the belt change intervals are on new age models but it's probably due one within the next year or so
  16. It's been mapped at a guess unless that's just a power run print out ?, I see around 30-35 mpg on long runs from mine dropping to 25-28 round town.don't get me wrong if you hoof it everywhere the needle will drop like every other scooby. Sensible inputs will get good mpg, depends what your used to
  17. Could always take a look no harm in having a cheeky peek, would you be able to persuade Tim into going with you if you went to view it ? It's pretty much the same as an impreza underneath so all the usual checks & faults to look for are the same, least the suspensions been done as they are a common issue
  18. Hello could give these a try www.importcarparts.co.uk If you can't see it listed give them a call as they should be able to get it or point you in right direction
  19. Hello & welcome, a few members have hatches so I'm sure one of them will be around soon to give you ideas on where to spend your hard earned [emoji51]
  20. Hi mate welcome ! Nice to see some more members from our neck of the woods, never been to Harewood for the hilclimb events, Anyway local meets are a bit thin on the ground at the mo but if I see you about I'll say hello
  21. To be fair I've seen that thread, it wasn't a 'bit of bodywork' more like a whole rear end restoration, work did look tip top ! Should be able to get a decent independent to do each side for around 300 ish
  22. Looking good ! Did your shell miss the underseal on import ? So clean
