Outback or Forester ? Advice required if poss please.
forester vote fore me here, how many miles do you cover a year ? if not a great deal and used for short trips i'd go petrol as there seem to be a few people with dpf issues, (same of any diesel) as for parts yes they are expensive if you only use main dealer, theres been a couple of times when i've had to put the phone down due to laughing so hard whilst talking to them, but the internet is a brilliant place to get replacement bits and there are loads of companies that specialize in jap/subaru parts as your in sheffield, may be worth giving Martin a ring down at sheffield subaru sdervices to give you and idea of service costings and what not, great independent with a wealth of knowledge and good bloke to boot

2001 wrx bugeye
New gaskets are easier to get from subaru US than here cheaper and quicker, have a search on the bay I got one for under 20 quid shipped arrived within 10 day's much better than 25 quid with 4-6 weeks wait [emoji35] Dunno if you've done one before but the nuts don't need much to be tight and people have snapped the posts that the nuts screw down onto.

Single din with gauges
It can be done, there's a build thread on here where a chap has done it, I just can't find the pic at the mo. I'll keep looking 90%of people fit them where the clock is as all the wiring is in place and they are slightly easier to see at a glance,

2001 wrx bugeye
Could be a split on the tank gasket seal, under the o/s passenger seat back there's an inspection hatch also allows access to the fuel pump, good chance that it may have been split or nipped up when the hatch was put on or pump changed, is there any history of this being done ?

Newbie
Hello & welcome, most important is to warm it up properly before giving it the beans, regular service intervals should be adhered to apart from that the are fairly robust, most importantly enjoy [emoji38] We're all friendly here and there's a wealth of knowledge so just have a good poke around and I'm sure you'll pick up loads of good info/tips for your model, when you have a min post up some pics

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Driven to the !Removed! end of the world, 252 miles took nearly 7 hours inc a stop for dinner. Have to apologise to the bugeye owner with the spoiler risers pulling a trailer that I overtook, if you'd had the light/number plate board attached to the trailer instead of lying flat in the back i'd have known what direction you intended to take
