  1. Thought id post up a brief guide to installing a master cylinder stopper bracket to a first gen forester, principals the same as a classic impreza. The purpose of the stopper is to eliminate the movement of the servo and cylinder/resevoir under heavy braking as the firewall isn't the thickest. I ordered a tegiwa stopper as they seemes to have good feedback on the products. When it turned up there were no instructions and only a couple of bolts. It's pretty straight forward. Tools i used for the job are 10mm socket 12mm socket 12mm spanner Extension bar This should take around 20 mins ! Provided all the fittings are the correct size, bare in mind this is a generic product so may not be. First off on remove these two 10mm bolts that hold the boost solinoid and other electrical gubbins on Just ease it to one side to give you more room. Behind this you will find two round stickers, ignore the one closest to the wing and peel back the other to reveal a threaded hole with a captive nut. The long flat peice of the stopper will attach to this. 2nd stage is to unbolt the brake bias housing and the little carrier that its attached to. Directly behind the two white circles is a bolt with a 12mm head. I took the bolt out and eased the whole unit away from the tower and slide the main plate of the stopper behind it without removing the existing carrier. On the main plate there are four holes i only used two and decided to hook the carrier guie into the upper most one then screwed the original bolt back in, its fiddly grrr ! This is where things went wrong for me as the bolts supplied with the kit to attach the barcket were way too big. I ended up getting two 25mm machine m6 size bolts and cutting them to 15mm Now the really fiddly part. Below and a little to the right of the 12mm bolt just installed is the 2nd mounting hole. you can just see it in between the resevior and the main body. I worked out that you can just fit a 3/8ths drive bar in there attach a 10mm socket on the other side, slide bolt in align and do up. Pain in the !Removed! doesn't come close. That should be the main bracket attaches to the side of the Shock tower. Next return to the hole in step 1 and place the small arm across to the main bracket. Insert m6 bolt and do up. Then just do up the bolt supplied to attach the two bits of brace and dial in the stop to the end of the resevior and your done. Replace the bost solinoid bracket and admire your handy work
  2. Haha i'm laughing at your reply not your situation. What a bell end you can only hope your plea is heard by the bay. Can they see your messages you have sent to strengthen your case ? At the end of the day hes broken the terms of the contract you both entered !
  3. Jay, no because i just orderd an impreza one. I'd like somone to check the size of the holes on the impreza tower before i fed back. Shouldn't be different but you never know, Once i've confirmed that its the same i will do. They only have one listed on the web site so i took a punt. They have different ones on ebay site but all say will fit impreza. Where is the re subscribe to thread button ? Manage to take myself off by accident
  4. More the fact that it was a twenty min job but because of incorrect parts it took 3 days :-( Thats the reason why i've only got 2 pictures may just do one with a before and after pic for forester owners benifit
  5. Finally fitted ! Sod the writeup as it took too long.
  6. Sav, where is simon based ?does he travel? I'm currently in discussion with duncan from race dynamix with regards to my plan for next year and an esl upgrade
  7. Sweet which one you go for ? If tegiwa one save yourself the hassle and get some m6 machine screws as the ones supplied are far to big in diameter. The ones from subaru didn't fit either so i've resorted to buying some from a motor factors. Even then i'm gonna have to cut them down as they are going to foul the springs. So after finally getting all parts needed today fitted it all only to find i had to take 90% of it off again and re fit with shorter bolts tomorrow
  8. Sweet i'm ordering some no8 from subaru direct so i'm pretty sure they'll be up to the job. Thanks again
  9. Cheers for that, should i assume that the ones in the engine bay with numbers on refer to this or would it be a totally different system ?
  10. Turned up today, looked sturdy enough. No instructions. No problem. Went to test fit only to find none of the bolts to attach the bracket to the bodywork fit grrrr ! Anyone any good with hex bolt sizes ? they say 8.8 on the top what does this relate to in bolt size ? M12 ? So everything back together again and placed an order with subaru for what i hope are 3 (couple of spares) new bolts as i refuse to try and drive a bolt through too small a hole. At 95 pence each i'm not gonna break the bank of the're wrong
  11. Anyway i don't wanna force anyone out of a job or assume stuff, he did say the next meet would most likely be in jan due to christmas and everything else
  12. Suppose things get busy in his line of work this time of year. Either that or i'll have a go lol. Misses allowing ! Problem with our region is it's size. Where abouts is gem located as she was on about coming to one
  13. Yeah i know not as far for me but worth it. Theres a couple of places in bradford but i have my reservations. Plus i get to have an exciting trip to medowhall ! Speaking of sheff Anyone heard from ash ? Seem to have lost a load of people since the server issue boo
  14. Exactly who i used :-) that and major service came in just shy of 800 bits :O Still doesnt have to be done now for 4 years
  15. Ah ok, prices seem to vary wildly i nearly fell over when i contacted my local subaru garage. So shopping around i got everything including fitting for the price some people wanted for the parts
  16. It's the pulleys and idlers that cost the most. Belt its self isn't that expensive ! Is that a subaru dealer ?
  17. Sad news indeed but looking at that pic you have to think that i could have been avoided. Don't want to speculate on grim things but a case of to much speed in a built up area. The car must have been traveling with some force for it to be wrapped round the post. Needless loss
  18. Cheers for that looks like fairly sturdy build quality. I can't be bothered with matching colours as you can see didn't think about the clash when i bought the brace :-D
  19. Bip, what did the change do mechanically ? More brake pressure & force is it a bigger unit or just better quality ? At the mo i'm just looking for little bits and bobs i can buy here and there to improve things. Nothing too major and i've no intention of tracking the car and i'm banned from 'spirited' driving by the misses :'(
  20. Ordered the tegiwa one should be here mon or tuesday. Have a few days off so i'll fit it and get some pics on weds/thurs It looked exactly the same as the cdf stopper so couldn't see the point in spending more than i need to.
  21. Been reading that if you remove air box from n/s and washer bottle from o/s you can just about reach them with a small drive socket. Mechanic i use does loosen the mounts and lifts either side to reach, i've been told you can change the rocker gaskets this way too leving the motor in.
  22. stants replied to LUIGI-3's topic in General Subaru Chat
Wiperblades.co.uk Cheap as chips and have a car look up feature.
  23. No worries cheers mate :-)
  24. Rigt then ordering ! Forgot i'd attached the brace after i took that pic. And i've prob cursed myself saying should be a doddle haha ! Any preference in make ? I was gonna go for the tegiwa on as it's at least 30 quid cheaper than yhe cdf and a whole 60 cheaper than the cusco ones. Are you just paying for brand name here ? Adam as the thread's been deleted do you fancy pm'ing me how much you wanted for the front seats ? I take itvthey were the buckets ?
  25. i seem to have a load more space around my cylinder and not much else attached to the fire wall. So should be a doddle to fit. Been searching for write ups and a few of the us forums say the are good mod for the classics.may just take the plunge do a write up/review for our forum
