thehulkster699
All the reports say it will be AWD.......will it be better than the Golf R? It's gone CRAZY over on the FocusRSOC forum........although there is quite a lot of unease about the fact that this RS will be a global car made in massive numbers......does it devalue the brand? Anyway, here is the teaser vid just released. Please note...these are the development "mule" cars and won't look like the final car........we all hope! https://m.youtube.co...h?v=M-5HKThVcYw To be honest, I have owned a few AWD Subaru Sti's, as well as a few Focus mk2 RS's and it really wouldn't bother me if the new mk3 was still FWD. My current RS (which is my 4th AND 5th - long story) is 350 bhp and handles fantastically. Infact those who know me on here will know that I sold my RS last year for a brand new 2015 Subaru Sti, only to sell it after 6 months and get back to the RS. That's how highly I rate the Ford. My 2nd Focus RS mk2 was up around 375+ bhp and it was just as sublime.
Gambit
I see it being tested at nurburgring. I just hope they lose the !Removed! end that the new ST has I think it looks awful. But pretty excited to see it. Ive had 3 focuses over the years and loved all 3 of em. The st170 was a tough car to get rid of. But I wasn't ever selling my scoob.
majik_thighs
Mass produced crap!..................wouldn`t have one given and I hope it loses the rip off Aston Martin gurn! Is it still a Volvo? Of course, that`s just my opinion
thehulkster699
Has the 2015 Sti lost its Evo gurn yet?
Nevell
It's like trying to compare a spitfire with and f16 they got there good points and bad lol, but remember this is a subaru club lol
Nevell
I'd just like to add the new sti is old tech , in a new tech world now :-( but bit of rain on a B road don't think any rs could touch a scoob, but I would like to add the ford interior is better , but that awd pull up hill and that drift you can do out of junctions , that grippy fill , makes me fill safe , it's sad but I do think technology has moved on and the rally icon is slowly dieing out as fwd cars do get better , with fancy diffs etc so,there filling that gap , so I can see the sti going out of production soon just like the evo , but If you look at nurberg times for the rs there quite poor compared to a lot of other cars, few vids of Renault cleo sports giving rs, a run for there money , I'd rather an st with a tune a lot cheaper lol
majik_thighs
It's a Volvo in a cheap suit! Sent from my Galaxy S 5 using Tapatalk
Gambit
Well on a plus note at least it's not Audi but from driving both Ford and Subaru I've sold more ford cars then I have kept I've had my subaru longer than any car but Focus does have a place in my heart of petrol. especially from the RS side of ford. I'd love to see Subaru and Ford return to rally with 2.0ltr cars :) forget this 1.6ltr bullshit ;)
DaiP
The only thing that's put me off the Focus RS in the past is that they were front wheel drive even though I've never driven one and I have to confess to having my !Removed! kicked by one when I was on my bike. My excuse was that It was on a twisty and bumpy mountain road. I was so gutted I was determined to find something wrong with the bike and ended up replacing the rear shock. Don't think I'll be replacing my STI for one though. I like the old school laggy power delivery from the scoob.
Scooby Pete
Hm not expecting much from Ford performance cars in future, ford have the yanks leading global devleopment of all the new RS, SVT and Ford Racing models. We all know the yanks are rubbish at cars. All their best cars were developed in Europe, by engineers who know that cars need to go round corners :D Speaking from the company’s Cologne headquarters Ford’s global head of product development, Raj Nair, said all Team RS, Ford SVT and Ford Racing projects would amalgamate in a new Ford Performance organisation based at a new technical centre in Charlotte, North Carolina and headed by Dave Pericak, Ford’s new director, global performance.
quit
I been looking at getting the mrs a focus RS as they are good reliable cars but i couldnt justify the new cost... i would rather have a 3 year old m3 but then the servicing costs etc may justify the ford Im not a FWD fanboy... just dont trust them really (i live in the fens with really bad roads! covered in mud from tractors etc)
quit
i would have a mk1 RS tho and garage it! my mate has one and its mint he only paid 6k for it
majik_thighs
Perhaps the subaru wasn't for you. It's a car that chooses you! Not the other way around. A very unique experience. You sit in a car.....but you put on a subaru! Sent from my Galaxy S 5 using Tapatalk
majik_thighs
And you really can't criticise the looks of the 2015 STI! It's one of the best looking cars on the planet! ! Sent from my Galaxy S 5 using Tapatalk
Gambit
Well looking at the pictures I like it from the front but hate the rear end, but don't like the rear ends of the new fords at all as I said before. :( Still think this could be a good machine I'm a fan of the mk1.5 RS focus I'd be happy to own one along side my Subaru of course for me nothing can replace that burble and pure feel. YET! a Lamborghini Aventador might but my luck on the lottery would need to change some what :D As of looks I could mistake the front end straight on as an sTI ;)
majik_thighs
Ford don't seem to have any of their own ideas! They always "look like." There's shades of the last imprezza with that !Removed! end! Sent from my Galaxy S 5 using Tapatalk
Gambit
Oh don't know I have liked Fords for along time having owned the escorts and focuses alongside the scoob my father was a huge Ford man with owning many many cars from probes to scorpio to the 4x4 thing they did was it the mavrik ? something like, but loved the RS escort had that as a poster on my wall with the blue and white tiger stripes Don't get me wrong Subaru to the core now I'd say but the RS Ford stuff I do like to see what's new. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the rear ends of the new stuff I think it look's horrid and I do like the mk1.5 RS focus still more that the slightly newer but older mk2.0 I'd still own a 1.5 RS focus if money would allow or like the RS escort pictured above just for childhood dream's possibly never drive it but I'd at least own one :D
majik_thighs
Used to have a mk one Mexico so I was a Ford fan at one time. It's just that now the usual Ford is ten a penny....One on every street and not built like they used to be. Could you imagine Subaru using a Nissan engine.....it's cheating. Anyway only sad fuckers are on Internet forums at this hour. [emoji38] Sent from my Galaxy S 5 using Tapatalk
Gambit
I still like the Ford Escort mexico I'd have one still if room and money let me :D I look at Vauxhall the same way loads of them. And what you trying to say I'm no here until that time most night's ;) When I'm not out dogging of course.
quit
Read about this last night when I was in a bar in Scotland Looks good , only released in 5 door too ! It looks ok but it's gonna depreciate well so 3 year old one should be cheap enough Personally if I was spending 30k I wouldn't have that or a new sti , sat in a new sti and well , it's a bit **** really My 30k would go to Zie Germans
Gambit
I think my 30k would be a new STI I couldn't see myself buying a German car for sometime with my hatred towards most owners of German model cars. I'm not saying I hate Audi BMW or Mercedes just a lot of bellends seem to be driving them in my area.
Scoobyghost
They make good cars but I'd never have one myself. Mostly because of the attitude that seems to come as a compulsary extra as standard.
Gambit
When I had the M3 I used to joke about saying it was ok for me not to use my indicators and cut people up because it was what people expected of me :D
quit
The sti had nothing ! No extras was very basic ! The interior was very plastic and cheap looking Rs4 for me ! Catch me if you can lol
Gambit
I think thats Subaru car in general though isn't it more about the basics and the driving experience, than the luxuries of heated seats and all the electrical gizmo's.
