cornish6544
Took my scooby down to a local scooby garage deals and specializes with impreza's i thought getting the spark plugs changed would maybe cost 30 for new plugs and maybe 25 to 50 to fit but the rang back saying it was all done and it will cost me 140 quid?! am i just being stingy or is this a ripoff? The girl on the phone mentioned re clamping one of the intercooler pipes aswell as that had came off but i cant see that costing anything i go to pick it up and pay tomorrow ,what should i do? Thanks
Jimmymac101
contact a local motor factor and get a price for some new spark plugs and go off that, does seem pricey but ive just had my AC belt and fan belt changed costing just shy of £100 James
Scoobyghost
Depends on plugs used but expect to pay £40 for those if the garage ordered them in. £100 Labour is crazy. Looks like they charged 1.5hrs Labour at the going rate. Shouldn't take that long but that is the problem using garages. All the cost is on Labour. stants
Unless the stuck iridium plugs in that cist about 70 quid ! 10 mins to remove Battery washer bottle and airbox undo engine mounts slightly jack up change plugs reverse process a hour max
Scoobyghost
Specialist should be able to do it without shifting engine surely. I'd certainly check what plugs they used. They should show you an invoice detailing what you're actually paying for.
stants
Can do but takes longer I've watched my guy fo it, if you just do one side at a time and jack up slightly it moves the block in an upward diagonal movement allowing much easier access to plugs
Scoobyghost
Suppose when you're not paying monies it doesn't matter how long you take. Do my own plugs [emoji12]
