Looking for reputable gearbox recon specialist.

I've had a slight gearbox oil leak for a while that is progressively getting worse. I've considered a second hand box but given the nature of these cars I'd prefer having a new box for peace of mind and a real guarantee. I've had a local rough quote of £500-600. My question to you good people is: Can you send me anyone that comes highly recommended, quick turn around and reasonably priced?

New clutch and skimmed flywheel to go on at the same time. Might even do the spigot bearing [emoji12]

I here the flywheel on Scoobys can't be skimmed the tool won't touch it so if it gets high spots it's a throw away and replace job unfortunately

Had mine done last week came back form machinists looking nice and very flat

Yours maybe didn't have high spots then, but my opinion is if it doesn't have high spots it's not needed so not necessary. This is just what Alan j said too me because I enquired about getting mine skimmed when fitting the stage two clutch and that was his response

Clutch itself is fine. No issues with it so chances are the fly is fine but while it's off I want all work done.

I've had 2 classic flywheels skimmed and both exedy pink box clutches handled 350hp fine with no problems or judder .spigot bearings are well worth doing imo .As they only cost £12 and they just "tap" into the centre of the fly to steady the idle shaft .

the 3rd scoob I fitted a new clutch too had a paddle clutch originally . It had eaten into the flywheel and left deep ridges and visual cracks .

So that was swapped for a lightweight flywheel as it looked well beyond a "skim" .

Where's the leak coming from and have you got any other issues with the box ?

As there's 3 main oil seals on the gearbox (prop and drive shafts x2) which normally leak gearbox oil . If its leaking engine oil the crank seal directly behind the flywheel or the back of the sump are the usual culprits.

These are easy to change when the box is out and only cost about £15 each from icp

Leak is definitely front input shaft. It's already had new seals. No noises. No rattles. All gears are fine. Apart from the leak you'd never know it had a problem. It's def box oil as the smell is obvious.

original seal replacement job. clear signs of leak. Strangely it hasn't effected the clutch. I've never had it slip and I only lose/use oil when giving it some. I'd say it leaks 500ml/6 months. Maybe less.
