Wolfy
So still on the hunt for the perfect first gen subaru (Within my budget anyway) I've found what might be a gem! Needs tad bit of work, but i don't want a car that's already done(It's just cosmetic work as far as i'm aware). So problem is the mileage is at 154k... It's had a full engine rebuild at 130k. The full right up is impressive though, as it does seem he knows what he's on about. I'm off to view it over the weekend, but if anybody could give me some tips etc that be appreciated. So main question is due to the full rebuild what do i need to worry about going wrong? Here's just some of what he put. So upon purchase I had the car booked into my local Subaru specialists, where they conducted a full report, which consisted of inserting a microphone into the engine to listen for internal damage, a comprehensive check and dyno run with print out. Once completed, they assured me my Subaru was healthy and mechanically sound. Straight away I had my Subaru to turbo Monkeys (Briggs & Skinner) Subaru Specialist in Boston, for a full comprehensive service. Due to my extensive knowledge of Subaru’s and with this being a performance car I only use PFR7B platinum spark plugs and 10w-40 fully synthetic competition race oil which has only seen less than 200 miles to date. Hopefully it makes sense what i put. It's 4am where i am so i'm not really with it
Scoobyghost
I wouldn't bother looking at the mileage on the engine now. It will depend on the quality of the build also depends how extensive the build was. Mileage will still play a part in gearbox, diffs and all other components. I bought my turbo 2000 over 2yrs ago when it had 158k and it's now on 174k. Biggest issue I have had was gearbox input shaft seal which was my own fault because I crunched a gear. Seal was probably weak anyway but wasn't leaking before I did that.
stants
Just check it has all the paperwork to back up his claims, If you know the reg of the car may be worth ringing turbo monkeys see and ask if the know the car etc Take a good torch so you can check the underside and inside the rear turrets as crap gets collected and rots them out Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Wolfy
Here's what he said The engine was rebuilt 4 years ago by kevin at API engines. The mileage was 135k at the time. It had ALC race bearings and an organic clutch fitted. It car reads 154k

Scoobyghost
How does it only cost £45 to fill the tank with 99 momentum? Smells like a fib coming from someone that claims to have extensive subaru knowledge.
Wolfy
What does everyone think then? Was meant to view it today, but didn't have time. The previous owner owned it for 9 years. Was wondering if that description is just copied from him.

Sirspidey
My quick pennies worth. With all the mods (decat exhaust sti stuff etc) and it's only mapped to 240 bhp, surely you'd get more out of it???
