I will just step in here to put a leveller in this thread, Tidgy is very pro clinic, he has had a lot of good work done there and knows the guys well, kershaw 330 is pretty much anti clinic and likes to jump on them whenever he can, as far as I know has had no dealings with clinic himself (I wait to be put right if he has) I'm not saying who's right or wrong, just informing you of the two sides

 

 

 

Clinic also have a reputation of charging over the odds and creating work that doesn't need doing. Regardless of if you've had dealings or not. We could use the same arguement that tidgy has had no dealings with duncan. It shouldn't be used to make anyone's point no longer credible.

Hm...Andy Forrest charges £480 for a ECUTek map, and he's one of the best for sure. He also posts different (higher) numbers with more or less the same mods. Mind, it could be bhp he's posting and not whp.

Yep, not disputing any of that scoobs, as I'm none the wiser myself, just pointing out the two main protagonists standings regarding clinic specifically

Why is it every time Clinic gets mentioned people come out and say this and that etc etc without justifying it. I get a bashing as well for supporting them, when did it become and bad thing to show some loyalty?

I keep hearing about supposed over charging and generating work and every time someone says it and puts their actual story down it turns out to be garbage and half the story missed out? which is why i get so vocal about it, people make mistakes, their only human, but to lie to generate some sort of sympathy or beef going is bang out of order. I have never ever seen or heard clinic refuse to sort out something they have genuinely got wrong.

So lets say a car goes in for some new brake pads and the shock is found to be leaking fluid, what are they supposed to do ignore it? tell the customer?, so lets say they tell the customer and offer to do the work, work is agreed and work is done. Now if a shock has gone, it will more than likely due to age and wear and tear so other components will be worn. What are they supposed to do then? ignore it? tell the customer? etc etc, 

So you have two scenarios, and this goes for any garage, a fault is found,

1. they ignore it, part fails, car crash's and garage gets blamed.

2. they tell the customer, customer agrees the work, the bill is higher than expected. garage gets accused of over charging and generating work.

so which is right?

 

As far as Andy F mapping cost, he doesn't use a dyno so there's no cost in the price for that.

 

Now the next point was about Duncan, now your correct i have never used him, so why is that any different? In reality it isn't, however i have been around a long time and seen good and bad companies come and go, get a good understanding of good and bad working practises.

So why do i have an issue with him? Well first off his working practises are questionable, second i see thread after thread after thread of people complaining about him, i see various cars at RR days with map issues. Then you get piggy who found out himself what he's like, a friends of mine had major det high up the revs range. I've seen him argue with most of the recognised mappers out there and has been drummed off of alot of the major sites by arguing with them, was in fact Andy Forrest who called him Dung Khan on 22b after he'd questioned andy and wouldn't accept his answer.

Ok so lets be fair, mistakes happen, people are only human, but that didn't help piggy get it sorted when something did go wrong did it?

He doesn't take his time to map cars properly, maps rounds faults rather than fix them, he doesn't road test after he's dyno mapped a car and he doesn't stand on when things go wrong. 

 

So that's where it comes from, listen to or ignore what i have said if you like totaly up to you.

That was a long read, skimmed it. Agree with most of it. Similar story regarding clinic over charging. Local member had his car inspected before going to clinic for some work. Only the work he went for needed doing but when he got there clinic found more. Two arguement, either clinic over worked or the previous inspection wasn't adequate. With Duncan, I had mine mapped, small issue and he came to my house to fix it within 2 weeks. Recently had a maf problem, went to him for a tweak and it's been perfect since.

 

 

Tidgy, don't act a victim about everytime clinic is mentioned because everytime Duncans mentioned youre in there like a shot too 😂 This sort of thing will never go away and every person, every company will have issues throughout their life.

 

 

Clinic overcharge, threaten legal action of you have issues and will go public.

 

 

Duncan has mapped cars wrong, caused det and maybe plenty more issues.

 

 

We wanna start ribbing evo drivers now instead of each other?

That's all fairly logical talk from Tidgy. If there was a problem with something major when my car went in for something else, of course I would want to know, and as such, I would expect the bill to be higher if the work was agreed and carried out. In saying that, Clinic generally had a good name, but there's always bad reviews. Even the nicest 5 star restaurants will have bad reviews. Generally, from what I've read, Clinic is a good place to go. But to be honest, just drop it Tidgy mate. You're like a Rottweiler if someone says anything bad about Clinic lol not worth getting into argument over. You've said your piece, and all anyone has to do is look at your car as a testament to Clinic's work.

Ah, cheers for clearing that up though! Didn't realize Andy didn't use a Dyno. I've started a few emails back and forth with him to see about getting mine in for a map, and that was one of my questions is the last email (he hasn't replied yet).

If it's genuine criticism then i have no issue with it, but most of the storys i hear are flat out lies, that's what gets my back up.

Personally I'd rather pay a little bit more for a company with a good reputation i accept every one is human and things do go wrong I just hope they bend over backwards to put it right I'm still considering a few companies but I must say I'm swaying towards Clinic

you've got to give Scoobyclinic some credit because he did say, ``you dont need to upgrade your suspension/brakes``..............the exhaust is iffy yes, well you just say no i suppose. as far as the............ ``you need a fully forged closed deck for over 400hp `` he's just giving me a warning, i dont think he was trying to con me.

it deffo sounds way better with the exhaust BUT it's damned expensive..............even the Afterburner tailpipes are expensive too !

I just don't like seeing people get ripped off and I'm sorry but over 3 k for an exhaust intake and remap is stupid , and tbh typical of clinic I personally never had dealing with them and never will after all the rubbish he tried feeding me when I was asking about my engine build , my friend recently contacted them about going 400hp in his blob he currently running 340 ish originally mapped by Jgm rip , just needs turbo and injectors, they started trying to say he needed a new ecu and stuff as apparently you can't measure the boost high enough on the standard one , the biggest load of cap I've ever heard. You plumb in a boost controller when on the dyno anyway needless the say it never went there lol , they will say anything to try and squeeze more cash out of you, I personally don't think it matters where you go it's your choice just be prepared to pay more at clinic and maybe not get the best service , tidgy always jumps on every thread clinic this clinic that when there are plenty more tuners out there who are just as if not more highly regarded in the Scoob world and bashing Andy forest lol I would take my car to him over clinic any day but that's just me

So for a full exhaust at about £1500, remap with ECUTek and dyno time is £550, and a intake pipe at a quick guess is £300? So you're talking £2300 in parts, and then you add labour to install all that, say 3-4hrs at £80per hour (standardish rate) £2600 roughly? You probably could save some money buying parts from other places and installing yourself and just doing the remap, but you're also paying for the convenience of someone else doing it, and that someone else (Clinic) is probably one of the best Subaru specialists about (and that's a fact, Andy F and Clinic both top names in the industry). At the end of the day, it's his choice where he wants to go and how he wants to spend his money.

3k does sound rather steep for an exhaust, induction and a remap, definitely don't need to put an induction kit on it as the stock one is very good for up to 400bhp with a good panel filter from cosworth or pipercross etc. exhaust is much more of a personal preference of what noise you want the car to make as your not talking much of a big difference in terms of hp gains with a less restricted exhaust

Can't say I've had any experience with scooby clinic but you can pick up an Invidia n1 exhaust for £700 for a 2015 sti, remap should be around the £500 mark and an induction kit if it was to go on is £150-300 so where they get £1000-1500 worth of labour for that work I don't know but sounds like they are taking you for a ride with that price :laugh: I'd be a expecting a full turbo back titanium exhaust and very good cold air induction kit for that

Hi new to subaru scene. Have standard 2015 sti and am 45mins from Roger Clark motorsport. If I was to modify my car would RCM be your 1st place to visit or Andy Forrest or Scooby Clinic as discussed. Any info would be great was looking at 340hp setup initially, and would the car handle this or just wait and save for  the 470hp in a 2.2 setup when I have saved for it eventually.
