cornish6544 Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 Fitted power steering pump from a 2004 wrx on to my classic as i was told it was more reliable everything was working fine however now it seems to whine with the acceleration so if I'm on full boost all you can here is the power steering whine sound.
kershaw-330s Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Does it aways make the noise ? Mine is getting like that occasionally but normally if I start the car in a tight spot and have to give it full lock to get out but it does quieten down as the car warms up . But it's not all the time . Sent from my iphone using Tapatalk
Sirspidey Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 I guess it's a secondhand pump? Could be a duff one? Maybe air lock, how did you bleed it or I don't know if they are cross compatible maybe they are. It suited.
cornish6544 Posted May 26, 2017 Author Posted May 26, 2017 How would i go about bleeding it? Its a conversion that I've seen on a few classics so it should all work.
Sirspidey Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Bleeding used to be done by filling reservoir and turning to full lock both ways several times, watching that the reservoir doesn't go empty. I guess it's the same for scoobys.
cornish6544 Posted May 26, 2017 Author Posted May 26, 2017 yeah I thought thats all it was I've already done this it doesn't make any noise when turning the whining noise occurs when i accelerate the noise will speed up and slow down by how much i put my foot down
Sirspidey Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Possibly bearing gone? Was it a secondhand pump?? I'm far form an expert in mechanics, just giving my thoughts on your problem. I also like to learn [emoji1]
cornish6544 Posted May 26, 2017 Author Posted May 26, 2017 yes the pump was second hand , I'm struggling to locate a new or even reconditioned replacement
Sirspidey Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Have you tried importcarparts.co.uk. If website doesn't list it give them a call. I understand not all parts are listed. Several people on here have used them. I haven't yet so can't comment, but many people recommend them.
