CRG77
Hi All, A few months ago I ask for some advice in regards to fixing a scratch on my car when someone at work had hit it. I was torn between getting the panel painted or doing something I've wanted to learn for a while. I decided that I was going to learn to wrap my car. I also have a plans to do a lot of other work over the next few months so it can be ready to enjoy next summer. I have decided to start a build thread so anyone interested can see the progress 🙂 I have made a start on wrapping the car. It will probably take me a few weekends to get it completed in and around work. I have added a few photos of the progress made so far:

CRG77
Finally opened the boxes to take a look at the wheels. They look so good. Can't wait to get them fitted now.
savage bulldogs
Did consider wrapping mine nardo gloss grey at one point but didn't think I'd personally make a good enough job of it Looks like you've made a lovely job of the wrapping that though , nice work bud 👍

Hopefully it won't take me too much longer to get it finished but I will keep this updated with progress 🙂

Got a few other bits I want to get done over the next couple of months too, so there should be plenty of updates.
CRG77
New black fender garnishes arrived this week. Wrapped the below panel on both sides and installed new fender garnishes 🙂
CRG77
So on Friday after work I went and got my tyres put onto the new wheels and then fitted them. This means the old wheels are now for sale and I have put them on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143893139093 I really like the look of the new wheels but the car now needs lowering to make it look a lot better.
CRG77
Also this weekend I spent a lot of time and very late nights trying to get as much of the wrapping done as I could. I would say we are about 85% complete now. I have added some pictures below: The whole wrapping project started due so someone scratching my car in the work car park. I was sure how well it would cover the scratch but it worked really well. Before and after below:

Also does anyone know anything about replacing head units? My car came with a pioneer head unit but I want to replace it with a new pioneer one (Apple car play). Does anyone know if it is a direct swap?

Can you take a photo of your existing unit in place at the moment - If its already after market you may have all the loom adapters required in place already

Jay762
Looks like you have the loom adapters (just visible top of second picture) in place for the unit so should be an easy item to swap

D3lux
If you follow the wiring from the head unit back into the dash you may find a brown and black plug, each with 8 terminals, these are universal connectors to allow you to swap the head unit with another. That section of wiring is the loom adaptor. One adaptor plugs into the Subaru wiring to convert it to the brown and black plugs, the other adaptor converts the brown and black plug to the Pioneer one. Hope that makes sense! If the existing plug from your head unit doesnt fit (it might if they are both Pioneer) you should be able to get an adaptor to connect your new head unit to the brown and black plug. Wherever you get the head unit or adaptor from should be able to advise if you need to do anything else to get your new unit to work. Last time I had to buy one I found it on eBay. Seller even emailed a few weeks later to make sure everything was ok!

CRG77
So after many hours of work wrapping the car in the evening and many late nights the car is finally complete. It turned out surprising well but it isn't 100% perfect (not that it is possible for it to be in the first place). There are still a couple bits to wrap to properly finish it but I am happy with it right now. Next part to wrap is the front grille and the spoiler. I also repainted the front lower grille in black as it had a lot of stone chips in. I need to reinstall that later today.
CRG77
So I bought a new head unit and fitted it on christmas eve. It wasn't to bad to install although I did cut my hands a lot trying to connect up the parking brake cable. Car play works really well on it too. The only issue that I have found with it so far is that I cannot seem to get the steering wheel controls to work. If anyone has any idea what I need to do for that it would be great 🙂
CarBoyCam
I have to say I'm not normally a fan on matte coloured cars but I really like the look of yours. Especially with those wheels. Nice work with the head unit install too. I got a similar unit to yours (Pioneer AVIC-Z930DAB) for my STI and had the same hand-cutting experience when trying to tap the handbrake wire to get the head unit fully functioning! 😆

CarBoyCam
From your pictures of the back of the old unit in your car, you should have a 3.5mm cable to go in the wired remote socket of your unit. Aux cable will be for wired remote and the other is for the mic.

Yeah it was not fun doing that part at all 😆

May have to get in contact then. It seemed to work with my old unit but the new one no luck. There was two cables off the back of the old unit that the new one did not have. Could it be one of those? Or are the steering wheel controls part of the loom?
