You learn something everyday, never thought of that but, maybe like you, I’d prefer to wash the car myself. None the less it’s interesting as a few years ago me and a lot of others got sprayed with tar from a road machine, luckily I could get to it before it really set on hard.

The guys cutting the road produced a cloud that covered the whole road and pavement, it was pretty extreme. Agreed I’m leaving mine for a month or so to let the paint “harden” off then I’ll clay decontaminate followed by using my DAS compounds and polishes. Looking forward to doing it, thee is something very satisfying about cleaning the car. In the past I’ve been concerned about the Subaru paint finish/quality but this new car looks to have a good finish.

It's very much the dust with this hoy weather. Mind you when I picked up the car I came home a slightly longer way and had to pass a gang of road workers who were using a diamond cutter to take a section out of the road. I was very pi**ed off.

Yep, all 2018 models are petrol and CVT, no manual gearboxes. Not sure why Subaru included a 1600cc engine in the range, I think pulling skin of a rice pudding springs to mind! My last car, Skoda Yeti, had a DSG box very good but after only a few miles today and the test drive I’m pretty impressed with the Subaru Lineatronic. I’ll post a review and photos after I’ve done a 1000 miles which will give the engine time to bed in. So far I’m very impressed with the Adaptive Cruise Control, nice and easy no sharp braking thanks to the camera based system which can see 130mtrs and understands the difference between cars, lorries, bikes, pedestrians and brake lights, unlike radar systems which see everything as a block

The last few cars we’ve had we’ve been more adventurous, it must be my age. In fact the current white is a pearl and is the only ‘standard’ colour that’s a no cost option. Your diesel will also have more torque and at much lower revs.

Thanks, understand about towing weight modern vans are so much heavier than the ones we towed. The current XV will tow1400Kg but that’s without any safety allowance, we always tried to keep ours well below the max but never had caravan movers and permanent beds to consider.

Collected today the dealer transferred my plate without any issues and went through all the controls etc., did a really great job. I drove home best part of 20miles. What a great car, soooooooo pleased. 😀 just a quick photo. It’s going to take a little time to get used to the technology.

I’d have thought it would be covered as it’s a pretty essential part of the “drive chain”. If it’s not then I’d be pushing for a Subaru UK contribution. Hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction it’s never comfortable to run a car knowing there is an underlying fault.

Looks like a nice rig. I like the black fitting on the bonnet, assume this is designed to reduce the damage caused by stones etc.? I can not, as yet, find anything like that for the 2018 XV car, how effective is it?

Could it be a failed heater plug?

You might be able to get cover that you want from a commercial company, although you seem to be looking for mileage extension within the standard warranty period? As I’m waiting for my car to come I’ve now looked at the warranty for the additional two years and it’s a bit pick and mix. Glad you managed to get it sorted, this type of fault can be both worrying and frustrating.

I’ve had an update for the dealer, build is on time with an expected dealer ETA of mid May. Really getting frustrated with the wait. Just having to replace my second windscreen on the this car, under two years old, and it’s due it’s first service in 900 miles so will probably have to get that done before it’s gets PX’d. With the service and windscreen excess charge I could have bought some goodies for the new XV!

Whilst I’m not at all familiar with current Subaru diesels I have noticed strange noises etc., when the engine in entering or leaving a regeneration cycle. Again, I’m not sure how the Subaru does a regen., but a possibility?

@Dogconker, at least getting the dealer involved logs the problem into the system, hope you can get it resolved ASAP.
