  1. Qualified as a brick layer when I was younger and worked for Britishwaterways all over tthe place for some years, cam out of that as lottery funding died so loads of people were laid off, I then went to work as a test technician at an electrical/computer factory, they made loads of stuff I know nothing about, some of which were sever circuit boards for lucent in USA, they gambled a multi million pound contract for new boards with them and lost the contract which sent the bust, so I got laid off again, but in the 8 months I worked there I stopped training as an amateur boxer, stopped riding a bike 23 miles each way to work as it was literally across the road and moved into the then girlfriends mum's, now mother in laws, cafe, every morning bacon butties, dinner was a full English and 2 more bacon butties then a greasy tea at night, I went to 19 stone of no muscle just fat in months and went back into construction, tried to do what I'd always done and broke my back, that's healed but left me with sciatica and I know have a prolapsed disc, soooo I'm not working but as the wife's a nurse, currently student midwife, I don't claim benefits and I can do some stuff just not every day, I sometimes help my mate break mk2 gfs or every now and again get a car to break on the drive, I do some detailing here and there and some mechanic work here and there, I can do pretty much anything on a vw but subies I'm still learning bits and bats
  2. I did too I just didn't want to admit it :-P
  3. I wondered why you 2 were on about the pump, I think I must have skipped a bit on the original post, I saw he'd replaced the pump and was still doing it, just read it again and you 2 seem to be making more sense lol
  4. Have a goodun guys, I'll be working on a mk2 golf and detailing a Picasso tomorrow
  5. My lights go off when I take the key out, I thought all classics did that, you can get a light buzzer for a few quid I only have a guide of how to make one for a mk2 golf but the principals the same if it's something you wanna have a bash at I'll dig out the guide for you
  6. Welcome aboard pal, I have a turbo 2000 wagon in your fave colour Green Yours is the colour I wanna paint mine White Lol, is it a UK car? I didn't think they did a UK wagon in white, I know UK loons are rare in white but there's been 3 I've seen locally recently, never seen anything but an sti wagon in white, I'd love some pics bud
  7. very nice, damn shame you have to sell but best of luck with it, would love something like this myself but funds do not allow
  8. as far as i know the coolant you have should be fine, just make sure you drain the system as there are 2 types of coolant and they can't be mixed, here you go, pretty good write up here
  9. if you have anti lag i would suggest putting it on a switch as sitting at 3k rpm at the lights attracts funny looks, especially from the plod lol
  10. welcome aboard Mel, can't believe i didn't see this earlier, anywhooo, sit back relax and enjoy ;)
  11. yeh most companies see 25+ as being more responsible, infact 95% of classic insurance companies won't give you a policy unless over 25, same with hiring a supercar, some are 25 some 30
  12. found pics of my actual ones you can see on the left is the standard bulbs, and the right is the leds, they were more "dotty" in day light but even at night they were distinctive as dots
  13. yeh i think you have the CEL ones, these are CEL, you can see the void at the bottom, this is where the bulb goes these are the ones i had in my mk4, i had to replace each of the 20 bulbs with led's you can just make out the dots of light, mine were yellow when i first fitted them, i then made them look like the ones above but as the leds were cheap i was loosing a light every other day so i ended up disconnecting the side lights and just using the projectors
  14. That looks much better, the chrome makes em look a little cheap if you know what I mean, them bulbs look like you have the cel rings in, do they have a blank section at the bottom of the rings?
  15. Check the maf wires and try and get another one to try too, I paid £40 off eBay with a cone filter fitted, that's about the going rate for a used one, it needs to have the same colour label on it
  16. Traders policy will probably be the cheapest option, all the cars I have had each time I add the wife to the policy it drops, did it with the scoob and it went up 200, and that's me with 10 years no claims and the wife with 8, also I'm 36 and she's 32 so it's not like we're teens lol
  17. If there's anything you come across in the Lancashire region I don't mind going to look for you, I'll even get some pics for you too
  18. Nice one, sounds like it's sorted
  19. If you get a phone wet you can put it in a bag of dry uncooked rice in a cupboard for a day or 2 and it will get some of the moisture out, also if you have some silica packs lying about from shoe boxes or electrical goods, they will do the same
  20. Yeh what jay said lol, its hard sometimes to get a point across on the net, it sounds great in ones head but might only sound good to that individual
  21. You can dry off while they are cooking lol
  22. Have you tried specialist companies, I get mine cheap as I have a classic policy that limits my driving to 5k miles a year but if I decide to go over that I can just ask them to extend the mileage, there's loads of companies out there that will give cheap quotes, some like Adrian flux will lower the cost of the policy based on the money you have spent on mods, things like halfrauds rims and £2.99 body kits don't count but if you plough as much into the car as it cost in the first place they know your going to take care of it more
  23. I was quoted nearly that for an import classic, I'm paying less than £500 on a UK classic, it's nuts, I once got a quote for a Toyota hilux surf, 3.0td import on an M reg, that was £1600, yet a porsche 997 was £900 Juat a shame I can't afford the actual car lol
  24. If you liked the S2 you will love the 4, the 3 is fantastic, so many features it's untrue, I do like the 4 but the HTC has an edge over the galaxy and I wanna try it
  25. I put mine in with the glass facing the door of the oven and plastic was perfect when they came out, just don'tuse too much heat and keep checking regularly
