How much?
I'd defo do a HPi check but if that mileage is genuine and it has FSH I'd say that's totally reasonable if it's in good condition. I paid around £7k for mine which had been lightly modified last year for a 2003 with mid 60k on the clock. Didn't have the knock as the suspension had already been changed to Coilovers, but it is a common issue with the original parts so don't let it put you off, even with pricing that in its still decent value for the mileage and if it's totally standard. You'll find there's loads out there for £6000 or even £5000 but I bet 95% of them are dogs and badly looked after with poor history unfortunately. That was the case when I was looking anyway, id definitely say its worth paying a bit more if you find a good one. Problem is they're cheap to buy but not cheap to maintain and look after so from what I saw lots skimped on that the servicing part. Or spent that maintenance money on POOOWWWEEERRR instead.

safe boost
Mine runs 1.4/1.5 bar - which is about 20psi. But it was mapped to that by a professional with supporting mods. I've not heard good things about manual boost controllers but that may just be people putting them way too high. Just make sure your other parts are up to the task before you do anything like that though - fuelling especially. I'd say it'd need STi injectors and a new fuel pump at least. Somebody else will hopefully be able to give you a more definite answer on whether it's safe to use the controller though.

Any experience with TurboSmart BOV?
Yea. When getting a remap not that long ago I was recommended to go back to recirc for slightly better performance and told the BOV's can sometimes cause running issues - nothing serious and mine had been on for 3+ years without issue. But I decided to change it anyway. I do sometimes miss the sound though.

Any experience with TurboSmart BOV?
I had that exact same BOV (turbosmart one) on mine. You're correct in thinking you can alter it so it doesn't go off too much. Mine didn't make any noise at all unless I was flooring it. So if that's what you're after I'd recommend it. Sounded good too.

Wheel problem
Got to say I think it looks a lot better on the standard alloys too.

Fast show ?
Don't lie Gambit ;) I'll probably come along to this if we can get a couple going. Wouldn't this be better posted in the "shows" section too? Might get a few more views and more interest than in the regional part.

Rip jgm
****, just seen this on my Facebook too. Horrible news, everyone always had positive things to say about him and his mapping talents. R.I.P. :(

JapShow Finale Sunday 12th October 2014
Not for SOC no. When we parked up in the field some bloke was hanging around and offered us passes for his stand for free to try and fill his up. Unfortunately we couldn't find his stand so just went in another haha. Felt a bit sorry for him since he helped us out but was sick of driving around looking for it.

JapShow Finale Sunday 12th October 2014
Thanks Savage :) I don't think Stants or Ash got round to taking any. Gem was there on the SIOC stand so she may have got some but don't know for sure. Haha, I know that feeling. Spent most of my CTR ownership messing with it rather than driving it, did same for first few months of owning my Scoob too. Got to say I've loved just driving and enjoying it these last couple of months :) definitely still got an eye on future work though ;) Just been pointed in the direction of this little vid too which shows Stants, Ash's and my car parked up

JapShow Finale Sunday 12th October 2014
Anyone wanting a go on the strip remember to take your paper counterpart licence too. I've never been asked for it but they do say to being it on their site and when signing up. So I'd take it just in case.

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Yea and it's a decent drive there so no will doubt be a mess by time we're there anyway lol. Just meant to be cloudy from what I've seen, I'm happy with that. As long as there's no rain it's all good :)

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Gave her a quick wash and started to wax but then rained so just quickly did the front, roof and wing as they get the most hammer. Then fitted my new STi badge to my modified grill (Subaru Emblem removed, filled and painted) and fitted the grill plus went and filled up so I can just set straight off in morning. All ready for Japshow Finale now :) Pics of the STi badge. Old and crusty New and shiney Pics of it on the car will follow tomorrow :)

Viewing Today: Anything to look out for?
Looks fine mate. I would ask has it got a receipt of where it was remapped (they aren't the most simple cars to map so pays to take it somewhere well known) and was it carried out after the mods - sounds strange but I'd expect a little bit more than that after a remap on one of these. It is relatively low power though so shouldn't have had too hard a life. Apart from that just carry out the regular checks - history, rust, any odd noises especially from suspension etc. as well as what Gambit said. Also make sure to check the cambelt history. It should have had one every 40k or 5 years, so this should have had one recently.

JapShow Finale Sunday 12th October 2014
Gutted! I'll still be going that's for sure and will be camping the weekend as long as others still are. I do think getting the payment form up earlier if possible would help for the next event we try to sort.

JapShow Finale Sunday 12th October 2014
That is an option but they always advise you to book in advance which is what I normally do. Just won't let me this time :(. Oh well, guess I'll just try on the day then.

JapShow Finale Sunday 12th October 2014
Haha I bet ;) Just failed at buying a RWYB ticket :( . Done it a few times in past but not during an event like this, seem to have changed the options. Anyone managed to book it? Only let's me buy a "admission" ticket with no option for RWYB, I'm confused...

Radar detectors - Does anybody still use them?
From what I hear by the time it's warned you it's already too late. Plus they do give lots of false readings so you'd probably stop paying attention to it after a while. I have a gps one from a company called BTST (google it). Can update it every day from a database (they say you only need to do it weekly though) of where all fixed and mobile cameras are and will be then warns you when you're in a area/on a road with cameras or that is known for having mobile ones positioned. It's not cheap and you have to pay a subscription fee for the up to data locations (I pay £3.99 a month). But it works really well and isn't illegal. Only have to worry about unmarked cars on the road then.

JapShow Finale Sunday 12th October 2014
Just paid :) Paying for the RWYB and not sure which day to go far as I doubt I'll get on it during Sunday with how busy it will be. Plus I like to give it a good, steady 5 mile drive (at least) up to temp before giving it the beans. Which will be a bit difficult on the Sunday. But Sunday would defo be the better experience if I can actually get on.... Edit - I've just seen I'm not even on your list gambit :( how very dare you!? You've even added Ash's mates before me you git :P

Facebook sent me here :)
That R is !Removed! BEAUTIFUL!! That is exactly what I'm looking for as a long term car in the future. Such a shame to hear of its end :( Wow! That is amazing on the 2.5 engine :O looking good :), !Removed! hell that arch gap is huge on standard ones though. Hopefully Gambit or Steve will be along soon to help you out with becoming a trader. I, along with many others are always on the look out for parts so you'll be very welcome here :)

JapShow Finale Sunday 12th October 2014
I'll be running the strip. Probably only do 2-3 runs if that through the weekend though as I don't want to blow my clutch up either but I really want to give it a good go on the strip and see what it can do as I missed out last October due to rain. Plus that was before all my work on her. Appreciate it if someone can video it for me too ;)

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Even if it's been sent as a "gift"? Thought that only covered ones put through as purchases? I'm still hoping it doesn't come to having to do all that though.
