  1. Awesome, good to hear mate. Hope your sat down, it's a long & boring story haha. Well since getting thing it I obviously did major service, cambelt, replaced brakes, tyres etc. All good. Then went on to modding, this is when the problems started. Not the cars fault admittedly but I couldn't deal with it being so slow compared to my last one. First major headache. The Exhaust. Bought a 3" decat turbo back. Hayward & Scott D/pipe, cobra double resonated center and a Raptor back box. Sounded AWFUL. Got the EL headers with twinscroll so no burble obviously. But this was just farty, raspy and ridiculously, stupidly loud. Not only that but it didn't fit correctly and ended up burning through my bumper a bit 😭 I then got in talks with Top Gear at Doncaster which is a PowerFlow exhaust maker on recommendation from a couple of people. I asked them to make me a catback with a big baffle silencer in middle similar to the H&S track one. When there he convinced me a big resonator rather than baffle box will be sufficient to quieten it down and made a back box with a really long silencer. Sounded only very slightly better. He convinced me it would get better when run in a bit. Did it !Removed!! Got worse. To point where it was just as bad as the old system. Got in contact with them and they just completely fobbed me off and were ****. Very disappointing after they were so friendly and helpful all the way up until the point of getting my cash. Now got a £550 paperweight I can't seem to sell on either. Finally went back to Cobra/exhaust uk who I was originally slagging off due to their centre being the reason my original system didn't fit correctly causing bumper burn and they were mega helpful. They sorted out fitting issues at a greatly reduced rate and got the back box cheaper too. Got their full track spec cat back now. Lots quieter and sounds loads better. Still not perfect but best I'm going to get with EL headers. Exhaust finally sorted, 3 port and new fuel pump fitted. Onto mapping. Actuator is faulty. Won't hold boost passed 1.1 bar. Common issue, already bought a upgraded on from Forge in anticipation of this but he couldn't fit at the time. Actuator fitted, mapping take 2. Problems with the actuator/waste gate still. Looked into found the bracket Forge had fitted was **** and unfit for purpose. flexed under any load, it was so bad it was actually possible to move it just with your fingers. Got in contact with Forge. After a few emails they sent me a replacement bracket with gussets (missing from the one I got originally). Basically admitting the one they sent was ****. However still completely unhelpful in giving any kind of compensation to cover £60 fitting fee and £200 it cost trying to map before finding this issue as well as the other £40 removing and fitting new bracket. Wankers, won't buy anything from them ever again. Bought theirs at great expense because I thought they were a reputable make. Pricks. Mapping session 3. Still doesn't want to make power. took hours to sort. Had a fuelling issue where it was trying to use low boost fuelling at high boost. Making it lose power and worse, run lean and try to kill itself. Managed to sort this eventually. Still only made a slightly disappointing 340bhp, 330ftlb. Was hoping for 350bhp like my old one or even 360bhp like I've read some people getting on JDM's. Still, it was done and went for a blast as soon as I was done at the mappers. May have been10bhp less but actually felt just as fast as my old one, probably due to the extra bit of torque and twinscroll delivery. So I was happy. For all of 10 minutes. Engine light started to come on while accelerating. Mint. Luckily it's just a mapping setting he'd forgotten to take off after all hassle it gave him. No biggie but then starter mortor is now playing up and my driver side auto wing mirror has given up. Dropped it off with him yesterday to get the starter repaired and alter the map setting. Will hopefully be picking it up tomorrow night now and fingers crossed it'll all be good again! Wing mirror will have to wait though. Have to buy the unit not just a motor and they're silly money! Also noticing a lot more paint blemishes now I've washed it a few times than I realised there was when buying. Still in a lot better condition than my old one though so not too unhappy about that. Still sucks. Seriously missing the burble too. Will be converting to single scroll as soon as I can. But decided I may as well got for a 400-450bhp turbo and do it properly for that so will be a while before that happens I think. Unless I get a good swap offer lol. So all that hassle, time, money and the fact I've not been able to drive it properly for about 2 months means I've been a unhappy chappie. Especially since I'm such an impatient bugger. Thats why I've been falling out with it 😂 Like I say, it's getting there now though and starting to see the light. Glad I got that sweet 10 minutes where it was working fine too as for that little bit of time it all seemed worth it which gave me a bit of a bump 😊
  2. !Removed! hell, been gone for a few weeks and now Daves gone and bought a JDM Impreza! Good man! How's it treating you? & sorry ive been gone for a while. My new car has been giving me some major headaches to point where I was falling out with it altogether so didn't really feel like posting lol. But can see light at end of the tunnel now and not as mardy haha. How's everyone been? ;)
  3. It's ok now mate thanks, I was being a !Removed!. All's good. Guess what turned up today? A God damn piece of art, that's what.
  4. Fitted new clips to my bonnet scoop since a couple had snapped when it was resprayed. New Buddy Club rad cap fitted. Got a new 3" double resonated center section to go with my new downpipe. Also ordered a Raptor back box :). That should arrive next week to be fitted at weekend. Gone for for double resonator to take volume down a bit. Not got the burble with twinscroll equal headers so not bothered about it being that loud. Will still be pretty loud though I'm sure, should only take edge off a bit. Hoping to get on tracks in future too. & lastly replaced my air intake box. Old owner must have snapped one of the back plastics tabs when replacing filter leaving top a bit looser than I'd like. One question with the air box though. In my new one it has a tear drop like "thing" where the MAF sensor is. My old one didn't have this? Just straight through. Any ideas? Would I be better putting my old top section back on? Not had chance to take it for a drive yet since changing so don't know if it's running same.
  5. I know, it's a lovely bit of kit. First time I've bought stuff from Scooby Worx, I'm loving their posh little boxes they put stuff in too lol.
  6. Making some great progress on my new one :) Got new brakes fitted plus recently received my new tyres (reinforced Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's), Hayward and Scott down pipe with gasket, boost solenoid and fuel pump. Currently got it at SSS having the cambelt done. Only 30k ago but has been over 5 years - forgot to check the date again when buying and only just realised - d'oh! Fitting the new fuel pump for me while he's got it too and heat wrapping the downpipe before I get it fitted. Going to pressure test the turbo for me as well, been told the standard Actuator isn't good at holding higher boost on the Twinscroll so seeing if I need to upgrade that before mapping. Spent a small fortune since getting it so its to my standard. This is before my new cat back exhaust and remap too!!! Really, really missing the power of my old one so needs doing haha! Should at least be able to recoup a bit by selling the Genome though hopefully.
  7. I can't check on mine as Its getting some work done on it, so this is from memory but the one I sorted was letting water through a hole in the shell at the left hand side. If you remove the boot lining there will be 3 or so holes between the light and where the black plastic guard sits around the boot latch. If I remember right, there will be one about 25-32mm and then 2 which are much smaller next to it. The big one should have a blanking rubber grommet in place. The 2 small ones didn't have anything there in the one I looked at. But when I poured water over the boot a small amount trickled in through these too. I put some insulation tape over them as a temporary fix/test and that sorted it. Worth checking them. Found my new car has this problem slightly too last weekend but didn't have time to investigate it. But hoping that's all it is on mine as well...
  8. I was thinking that, cheers. Now just got to try and find some of the genuine stuff lol. Yea, Craig is going to valet it (needs it after this weekend too) and want Martin to check that "cricket" noise if he's got time. I'll see you there
  9. I always go to direct to a subaru dealer for this type of stuff. You're guaranteed the correct item and surprisingly for parts their prices are actually really damn good. Usually cheaper than on eBay when I've checked. Worth a try?
  10. Managed to source a pair of genuine OEM wind deflectors. Mines missing the drivers side for some reason... Must have broken or been stolen or something as you can see the marks where it used to be. Only 1 slight issue, the guy I bought them off removed the entire trim piece from the car he's breaking instead of just the deflector. Don't fancy taking mine apart and fitting the full trim section so just had some quiet time seperating the deflector with a hot air gun and ribbon. Went a lot easier than expected and the glue stuff came off quite nicely Now, anyone know of any good stuff for sticking it onto mine with? I've got the clips already too.
  11. Not 100% sure now but i think it does go slightly when braking. Changing Diff settings didn't make any difference. Is still there.
  12. ? Can on mine Strange. Try again with a link - www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdOVm3JzBDg
  13. So, just started noticing a strange noise as ive been driving around more and without radio on. Tried to capture it best I could in that video. Its that strange noise that almost sounds like a cricket or something... Its loudest in 4th and 5th but can be heard very faintly in all gears at low, cruising, revs. Makes it when coasting and when letting off accelerator too. Anyone heard this before and/or have any ideas what it is? Im not going to be able to get to garage until Saturday at earliest and even then not sure if he'll have time to check it properly and its playing on my mind. Could it be a heatshield???
  14. Think I need some mud flaps. From freshly clean to crap all up sides in one small journey.
  15. Gave the new girl a quick clean today. Getting a proper valet/detail next week so not gone mad but come up well. Got a proper look at the paint while cleaning too. Paint work on the whole is a lot better than my old one. FAR less stone chips, but has got a few more blemishes and slight scratches. Lacquer is bubbling on the boot lid too, but planning on getting that sprayed anyway as per usually with these it's showing signs of surface rust under the spoiler. The rest I'll get sorted a and when. Overall, very happy with it though. Over last couple of days got a major service and check over sorted by Martin too. All fluids replaced, dodgy top rad coolant pipe replaced and undersealed. Looks to be in good condition :). Although found whoever fitted last spark plugs must have struggled and not been well versed in doing them on Scoobs. All coil packs finger tight, 1 of which actually just pushed into place and not tightened. All plugs were just slightly more than finger tight too, one of which the crusher washer was still in tact. 😁 Luckily no signs of any damage because of this and was running fine. Very happy he found them though. Fitted new 7b's ready for when it's mapped 😀. Said its a sweet sounding and running engine too so all good. Had a Cat 1 alarm fitted too as the !Removed! don't have them on there's. Been a busy couple of days. New brakes have been delivered and tyres are on there way. 😊 One of the original wind deflectors is missing too so picking one of those up tomorrow all going well.
  16. Haha I've got mad photoshop skills! Not sure on that actually mate, it's got a very definite square space with hooks for the jap style plate but the uk one seems to fit ok length wise, though you can definitely tell it's not the correct style plate for the space lol. Yea, sounds good mate. Look forward to meets starting again 😊
  17. I PX'd it. came to a good deal with the place I bought the new one off since it needed some bits sorting and I couldn't be doing with all idiots this type of car will attract in adverts haha. Yea I'm going to speak to Martin about that. In a weird way I kind of like it though haha. And no, it's the Jap one? That's why it has those hooks where the licence plate is. Admittedly can't see it in the pic very well but they're sticking out on the exhaust pic if you notice. That's what gives it away for me. Every one I looked at had the same one, what makes you think it's uk bumper? Got me worried now haha
  18. Impreza has gone 😭😭😭 But wait!!! Another has appeared in its place 😃 Needs a wash but couldn't get in front of house to do it when I got home. Will take some better photos then with a better camera. Got a few tiny bits to tidy up on it and it's noticeably slower than my old one was but it's a much better base to work on and is still !Removed! brill 😊 Just ordered some new discs and pads for her and going to get some Vredestein tyres put on it ASAP too. Trying to get it in with Martin next week as well for a service and check over for peace of mind.
  19. Yep. Put a deposit down and should be collecting it Saturday all being well. 😄 Improvements are already being planned too, got some brakes, hoses and tyres down as first jobs. And been looking at exhausts and the RCM twinscroll header and up pipe... @stants sounds like a good result mate! Good to hear. Random, odd question but did Martin mention to you when he was booking mine in? Been working in a remot place & phone has been playing up and not been receiving texts. Got one about keeping it a couple if days but nothing about when he's got it in for and not been able to get hold of him... May just have to call in on Saturday and see him.
  20. Ah right. Not too serious then. Unfortunately not, working in Notts, doubt I'll be back before 5. 🙁 Unless you're around after that? He was supposed to be ringing me back about booking my new one in next week for a full service and under seal today though and never did, know what he's like haha. I'll be giving him a ring again tomorrow.
  21. What's wrong with the Foz mate? Are you seeing Martin?
  22. Cheers mate :). Yea shame you can't pal, would have been great for you. Went and looked at that other one earlier, bit poor to be honest and seller didn't know much at all about them, I knew more than him. Had the boot leak problem, I actually sorted that while there, was just missing a grommet. But it's obviously been like that for ages, had rusted up under the spare wheel - only surface rust but still needs sorting. And the side skirt had cracked and was rusting underneath- had obviously been caught. Brake discs need replacing too. I pointed all this out to him yet he wouldn't budge on price... In fact he was on about changing the exhaust and getting a generic map put on it to try and get a bit more for it. One to avoid.
  23. You're right, I'd regret buying that 450bhp one too. May have DCCD but won't get the full benefit and experience the bigger change without the wider track too. I went and looked at the JDM one yesterday. May have agreed to buy it... Haha! It's got a knock coming from somewhere at rear so he's sorting that and converting the speedo to MPH for me then I'll be collecting :D . Fair play to the guy he was the one who heard and pointed out the knock too. Was actually a top notch bloke. I didn't even go and look at that other UK one after driving it, totally different beast to the UK model in how it drives. Now I need a JDM one haha! Makes the extra money I'm putting in more worthwhile too since it's a far bigger change to just swapping for a UK widetrack. only 1 significant problem. No burble 😭 . Well, it's still there very slightly and hopefully a different exhaust will make it more pronounced.... May have to convert to a single scroll one day if I can't get it to sound any better... Has a awesome top end scream though with the twinscroll. Im still looking just in case a better one turns up while he's sorting it, going to view another today actually. But think that's the one I'm getting :).
  24. Right, thanks for the input guys but I've decided to go ahead with this! I could keep spending money on mine but the way I see, no matter how much I spend on it, I'm always going to keep looking longingly at the DCCD models so I'll never be satisfied. I'd be better getting one and then saving up and modding one of those instead. A different conundrum has appeared since making this decision. Which to go for. Ive found a WRX that's been fully converted to a STi with DCCD, forged and using a JDM block - https://www.gumtree.com/p/subaru/-subaru-impreza-wrx-sti-jdm-spec-dccd-fsh-450bhp-fully-forged-anti-lag-vi-pec-ecu-/1155391947 been speaking to the owner and he says AI Motorsport in Ireland did the work. Anyone heard of them? He's got the paperwork for the works too. And at that spec I don't need to do anything :). But it could be a lemon and not sure about STi converted ones, prefer the factory ones. Plus it's not widetrack, but as I've said I'm mostly interested in the DCCD. Next up, a JDM one - http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/subaru/impreza-sti/-for-sale-high-grade--impreza-wrx-sti-twinscroll-widetrack-jdm-dccd/4300715?v=b better in just about every way to ours. I could PX mine here too instead of messing about selling privately. But am I right in thinking it won't have the burble since it has equal headers? I can't have a Scoob without the burble! But this could be easily sorted when I start modding it by fitting unequal headers correct? Or is the entire exhaust setup different with the twinscroll? Also will need a lot spending on it to get it near the performance of mine. Lastly - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201603011545591?postcode=s62ba&price-to=11000&sort=atcustom&quicksearch=true&radius=80&page=5&price-from=5000&make=subaru&onesearchad=used&model=impreza&search-target=usedcars&logcode=p got to say I'm most drawn to this one. Proper UK STi on the reg I want. Has the most info in the ad, seems to be owned by a enthusiast. Lightly modded already so not a huge amount to do. Looks good. What do you guys think?
