What have you done to your Subaru today ?
savage bulldogs replied to stants's topic in General Subaru Chat
Nooo don't paint it ....... I'm sure there's a law against painting good looking carbon fibre [emoji5] Maybe if it was scratched or needed to be re lacquered [emoji6] has the paintwork been done yet bud ? -
Going to this with a local forum but thought I'd share it on here as it's free and not much else is now days . http://www.buryretrocarclub.co.uk/carsonthegreen.php couldn't tell anyone much about it tbh as I haven't been before but its only 30mins away from me and will only cost me a fiver (donation to mcmillan) to put my scoob on the stand . Cheers clive

Short throw lever

96/97 would be v3 classic impreza which would be phase 1.5 inlet . I'd imagine that gear linkage wise it would just be for a 5 speed classic but if you phone alyn I'm sure he'll know what's what and point you in the right direction [emoji6] -

still not had the opportunity to have someone to double check the live readings on the apexi controller during a 3rd gear pull[emoji57] I'm fairly confident the filter swap worked though as the boost is holding better higher in the rev range according to my boost gauge [emoji41] So I tried the other setting attowe said to switch to and midrange torque /top end pull are much better with a fair bit of boost for 3/4 throttle uphill -

Glad it was just a rim and nothing wrong with the foz stants [emoji41] Still think that you're mad not telling your mrs all 4 rims we're fooked and "it would be cheaper to buy a new aftermarket set if 17's "[emoji39] -

There was definitely a difference between the standard 6 speed in my brvs set up to the 6 speed with ppp short shift in my classic I haven't had any experience with a aftermarket short shift but I've heard a few people rate the "kartboy" short shift unsure if they come with new linkage bushes ,so it might be worth checking and if not getting some from the likes of alyn @as performance (to tighten things up as well) -
Boost gauge/gauge pod help
savage bulldogs replied to Mikey133's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
As stants said The oil temp sender is the only pita bit but just take your time and make sure you get the "subaru specific" brass bung to fit the oil temp sender above cylinder number 3. as they're not ofter included in most fitting kits supplied with gauges -
Boost gauge/gauge pod help
savage bulldogs replied to Mikey133's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Here's a pic of my depo 4 in 1 gauge can't fault it for under £100 [emoji6] Didn't like the colour so switched the colour over to this Love being able to know how warm the oil is before I use any boost and being able to monitor oil pressure is a bonus [emoji6] -
My Subaru Impreza 2000 UK Story
savage bulldogs replied to ChrisValentine's topic in Subaru Build Threads
Nice clean looking v4 uk [emoji41] maybe a front splitter ? As imo classics look a bit "chinless" without them . -
The upipe brings the exhaust gases up from the headers to the turbo. So it bolts between the headers and turbo Its the bit with the studs at the top on the left in the above pic

Think I might have found some steel "tuner" wheel nuts on egay along with some new centre caps just hoped sombody had tried n tested some . And yeah £40 does seem a bit steep for a couple of stays but I had seen a post on f.b that showed a link for some for £20 but fooked if I can find em lol
-
Yeah thats the guide ,don't let gambits outfit put you off [emoji5] don't know if it mentions it but you're better off listening to them start from cold as due to the boxer layout they can suffer from piston slap from cold which goes away when warm . I have heard some good feedback from hurst cars but no personal experience , best of luck and keep us updated fella

+ 1 for import car parts for the cam belt kit and if you're uncertain about the history get the full kit (pulleys, tensioner and water pump ) The area your describing the smoke coming from would suggest a oil leak dripping onto the headers, probably from the rocker cover gasket/half moons (at the back end of the cams) as these get brittle due to the heat from the up pipe . if not check the turbo oil drain pipe as this can sometimes split or block

Hi n welcome good luck with the hunt . There's a buying guide on here which outlines the common problems to look out for [emoji6]

Thinking about getting some cheap black wheel nuts to tidy up my rims once they've been refurbished any body recommend some ? Also my bonnet stay is rubbing on my polished ally fmic pipework[emoji57] so would like to buy some strutts (bonnet lifters) to do away with the stay . Scoobs a v1 sti and ebay Links would be great if anyone has bought some cheap but functional bits lately . Cheers clive

Fix Or Repair Daily (Ford) the only good looking fast cars they make are the rs and muscle cars across the pond anyways imo And I'm sure that golf would be a hellva lot faster than most scoobs on here [emoji87] and he built it himself so surely some credits due Each to their own and all that malarky with taste and modding [emoji6] -

Did you put a smear of fresh oil on the filter o ring stants ? As doing that and filling the oil filter before fitting is the normal way I do a filter change [emoji6] -
Lost keys, where can I go to get a set
savage bulldogs replied to Rippey's topic in Subaru Audio / Electronics / Security
Unsure how to get a replacement set tbh but I've got a full set of locks and keys on a v3 uk turbo I'm breaking . I'm in Suffolk and your welcome to have them if come and remove them . -
+1 for undoing the top square filler bung first as the last thing you need is to drop the oil out of the bottom bung and find the filler bung is seized[emoji6]

It's a 5zigen jasma (jdm race spec) catback ,extremely light and pretty rare cos I've never seen another gc8 one for sale . It's got a resonator box , fully slip jointed and very well made . I love the look and quality of it but with the rim refurb , geo set up eating into the "bigger turbo fund" I just can't afford something more subtle sounding of the same quality atm -
My brvs old system was a 3" decat turbo back and sounded fine but mine sounds just plain dirty at full chat
